The remarkable Mr Smith
Discussion
So I drive out of my driveway 6pm last night, car running nicely, 400 yards down the road there is a backfire and the car goes into rough idle with no ability to rev whatsoever.
I call Mat Smith while it is still idling and he diagnoses a lack of fuel at the cylinders. I call the RAC, they turn up and diagnose the same.
RAC offer to relay the car the 80 miles to Mat Smith's garage, arriving some time on Saturday.
I call Mat back, and ask if I can bring it myself on my own trailer at 8am this morning (Saturday).
Half an hour into diagnosing this morning, with good fuel pressure and good spark, Mat announced that something must be stopping the fuel from getting from fuel rail to cylinders.
ECU, he suggests. I happen to have a spare with me......swap them over and the car fires first time.
Car fixed by 9.00. I am well pleased, Great service.

The alloy case is pretty fured up .. where has it been the Thames ?
It has been next to a battery, as TVR intended. Only this battery boiled and leaked some acid onto the carpet, which ended up in the ECU. Odd thing is it took two years to bite.....rEdited by QBee on Wednesday 12th April 22:07

I have left it with Mr Smith......I am about to convert to a green jewel of an ECU. But thanks for the thought.
It (or another) wouldn't be for sale at a (very) keen price for a project for the Cerbera community ? QBee said:
