Indeed, Richard, I too have many happy memories of Croydon, but in the 70s.
Croham Hurst and Old Palace were the schools to wheelie past on your FS1E by then.
Peter's memories must be from the 50s...

Seeing bands at The Greyhound, Fairfield Halls and even Slade and Quo at The Orchid Ballroom. Loads of pubs and bars of course. Many, many great times. Still was a bit of a st hole.........

Were you too young for the Top Rank Suite disco at Broad Green?Cycled there, blagged my way in, marvelled at all the young girls, had my first drink and cycled back half cut. All that at 14......
Actually, I suppose Croydon wasn't that bad from a lads point of view.
By the late 70s, the Top Rank had long gone. But as a Purley lad, Broad Green was a bit too far Norf. Besides, we had Cinderellas (was the Orchid in your day Peter) and Boobs on our doorstep... Boobs! Their logo was a woman's bust with a B to one side and the BS to the other you'd never get away with that these days

Ah Croydon, Gateway to the south!
I grew up in Shirley, a few miles outside of Croydon.
We used to frequent the bars and pubs of Croydon. It was a pretty crappy place then and is even crappiet now!
Just remembered, i used to go out with a girl who ran the Salt and Pepper hamburger bar on the main road in Croydon when I was quite young. Good for a free cheeseburger and chips after a few pints on a Friday night......
Shirley/Coydon lad here as well.I grew up in Shirley, a few miles outside of Croydon.

From norf London to the factory used to take up to 3 hours on a Monday morning and 73 sets of traffic lights, we all left the company and moved on to more lucrative jobs within 2 years, still meet up on a regular basis 37 years later for a overall Croydon not all bad

Some gorgeous pictures of the tuscans. I know it's a real subjective and divisive topic but i love the flip/reflex/cascade paints. I think they're fascinating and look incredible on TVR's particularly tuscans. I know with my charcoal cerb I never get bored of looking at it, it's so unique in different lights from different angles. With the curves of a tuscan the contrast looks even more intense. I love that Spectra FX blue, never seen that before. Is it a respray, or factory finish?Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
