I can't help thinking that the designer must have intended the Tina to have a front ( and rear? ) bumper. That would make a huge visual difference.
I actually prefer it without bumpers, it seems cleaner that way although I suppose a talented designer could integrate them better than my clunky imagination can.

The more I look at this car, the more I like the styling, inside and out. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for in the auction, could be a decent investment for someone.

Saw the auction listing, not a bad try really - barring the Imp hub caps, that is. A bit of future Tasmin in there too.

What size wheels did the Tina have?
Were they the same as the Sunbeam Stilletto? ( Which was also a fastback )

And FYI Peter, you were correct first time: it's Rootes not Roots. Roots made blowers.wink

The car is indeed missing its front and rear bumpers which were lost and need to be custom made.
In my opinion changes the whole look of the car.

Strange...someone decided to fit newer badges on the front wings?

what year was it, if anyone knows?

J registration makes it 70/71, is that correct?

They were certainly making Sunbeam Rapier fast backs in 1970, I had one.
As the car went to Itayl for a few years and then came back to the UK in '70 and was then first registered - very rare for a manufacturer prototype to survive.

Yeah, a real shame that the originals are missing (have been for nearly 30 years!!) and more difficult that the coupe had different bumpers to the convertible.
We do have the same bumpers at the convertible, but would like to try and have the originals remade, but cost stops it at the moment.

This was when the Tina was stored prior to restoration at Spadge Hopkins Cottage Classics.
