I went to Chimfest when it was at Thoresby Hall with the S Club, must have been about 4 years ago now.
Including all the other TVRs that attended, I think we had 153 TVRs at that car show.
There must have been getting on for 1000 cars in total. Fantastic array of all sorts of makes and models. The E-types and the 60/70/80s Fords stick in my mind the most, and I had a great time showing my father in law around.
Sadly he died last week, but at least he understood the joy that is TVR.
Never failed to ask me about the car, and to remember his passenger laps at Cadwell Park in my Chimaera.
Heart felt sympathy mate. thumbup
Thanks Alun....they’re dropping like flies around here.
Your favourite cat (you remember, the TVR barbecue litter tray fiend!) is now 20 years old and is about to become an ex-cat. Got her from the Blue Cross the day before the 1999 solar eclipse. Not sure which I am saddest about - i’ve known the cat longer than the father in law!

That was my finding many moons ago. Proud as punch in my new (to me) TVR and attended a TVR CC meet to find lots of beards and talks about refurbishing the wishbones of a 1974 Taimar, followed by the most pedestrian "drive" I have ever been on.

Never went back. To be honest it put me off the whole idea of car meets and car people. Thankfully I found PH and attended a few runs (and socials) and changed my viewpoint. Seems things have changed little hehe

ha ha ha ha! This is very true mate! Bloody pleased Craig took over and injected a few years of life and younger blood in the TVRCC! As you say though, I think we did arrange that on here to be fair. As I say, I had walked from the TVRCC pretty soon and it was only finding an alternate TVR society here (before the masses diluted it wink ) that made me re-join the car social scene.

Fire eating still occurs on occasion mate. Would love to say I have grown up but, hey, why do so if you don't need to wink Hope you are well my good man x

It’s your car, do what you want with it. The thing about TVRs is how good the owners are.

Most of the people I have met because the cars, be that PH, TVR car club, track days, social meetings, driving tours or combinations thereof are great.

Qbee, Phazed, Classic Chim, pb450, NCS, all the people on the S club tours and Saturday Sausage meeting and many more user names I can not remember are the loveliest people you could ever wish to meet and I know them all because the shared enthusiasm for TVRs

Personally, in 9 years of ownership I have polished both once and did over 20k miles in the first and less than half of that in the second.

If you don’t like the club, don’t join it. If PH was better in the day, be glad you were a part of it.

Finally, beards...in case you haven’t noticed they are in vogue with the youngsters biggrin

Ps, glad the track days is back on.

No Chimfest now? Only went once some years ago, combined thing with the S club boys... Still have a Chimfest tee shirt... wonder if it's worth a few bob now scratchchin

I'm an ex member too, Suffolk & Norfolk region. Had an article published in Sprint once too, all about growing chilli's smile

I'm a bit surprised at some of the comments on this thread. Well, a lot surprised!

"they tried and eventually succeeded in killing Chimfest out of spite"

Really? Who are "they"???
Some of the TVRCC committee took over the organising of S Club Heaven in particular & Chimfest ( I'm not sure if this actually existed previously ) when the previous organisers ( Club members ) moved on to do other things after a good long spell of donating their time and efforts. Voluntarily. For free.
The Club stepped in and held the combined SCH & Chimfest at Thoresby ( 2012 iirc ) then at Blenheim ( 2013 ). For this, they should be applauded, not denigrated.
For the next year, 2014, an S Owner ( Donnysoutherner ) put a lot of time and effort into organising our SCH Event at the Sheffield Emergency Series Show. Unfortunately the main event was cancelled at fairly short notice and he was left considerably out of pocket through no fault of his own. The 'S' community got together and had a great weekend camping and BBQ at Barn Farm, Birchover, with a far from pedestrian run-out around the Peak District, an event that I have continued to organise each year since then.

The following year, 2015, Alan461 and I got together ( nono Not like that! Stop sniggering at the back! ) and with a lot of help from the Club and advice from Longers we staged SCH at the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh.
This was very successful and we repeated for 2016.
Last year Alan suggested that we hold the event in a different geographic location to give other owners a fair chance to attend, so we staged SCH 2017 at Uxbridge Car Show, just inside the M25. It was another well-attended event.

For this year, I thought we should give the folk oop norf a chance, so we have planned a great programme of events with a good drive around the spectacular NorthumbrIan Fells on Fri 29th June, a group visit to the amazing Beamish Living Museum of the North on Saturday 30th Junew, followed by our usual S Club Heaven event at The Great Classic Show at Bywell on Sunday 1st July. Over 1000 classic & sportscars are expected, with plenty to do and see.
Our programme is open to all models of TVR, we have reserved spaces at Beamish for 55-60 TVRs and up to 90 TVRs at Bywell. So please feel free to come along and join the fun. ( Beards are not required, but you won't be excluded if you don't shave.)
Please see the S Series forums either on here or on the TVRCC forum and register your name if you want to take part in any or all of this great event.

Well, that's the S Club slant on things, but where are all the Chimfest volunteers?
It appears to me that many are complaining about the lack of organisers whilst sitting on their bums waiting for somebody to do everything for them. rolleyes

The Club is what you make it. If you're not happy, don't just stomp off in a huff, do something positive about it!
It can be quite satisfying to help bring a bit of joy into people's lives instead of misery.

Just sayin'.

Oh, and by the way, due to family commitments this year, I will be unable to take part in the Barn Farm Camping weekend, but I have reserved 8 tent pitches for TVR owners taking part in our very popular High Peak Nomads "Thrills in the Hills" Run on Sat 26th May. Over 100 TVRs are expected this time.
If you would like a pitch, please PM me. First come first served.

I polish and drive mine, not necessarily in that order. I have just paid my £100 deposit for Rockingham 'no noise limit' track day on the 24th August. So, come on everyone, don't just talk about it do it. We don't want another Cadwell situation again. You'll love it.

My passenger seat will be available all day. Only a Chimaera, but I know the track, have track tyres and 390 bhp. Mine is the green and turquoise one. Just find me and ask. Ditto your family/friends.

Oh how I miss the old joint up club days between the region's. They were worth the money alone just for the giggles.

Phil was converted to TVRCC when we went to an event in a Rover 214 and stuffed a few TVRs. Phil was my sidecar passenger throwing his weight into the corners.....he was a bit chubbier back then.

Also got passenger seat, probably less exciting, but a chance to get some sighting laps from the passenger seat.

Following my earlier grumping, I should say that Nick at SEL Kent always put in a good meet and organised loads of trips out. As did Pauline at Mid-Essex.

As said, it’s not for everyone.. but for the sake of £60 you should give it a go.
Cheers M'dear.
Hope all is well with you both.
