30k for everyday tiv...
Discussion
Mine is a 1999 model and had done 28k miles when I got it - it had been used regularly - 10k miles a year. TVR Power and Thames Valley Racetech have both commented what a good car it is - but, and this is my point - even good ones constantly need attention.
I do believe that a lot of TVR owners are so smitten with their chosen chariot that they consider the odd mishap to be normal and dismiss them. Like Jacksdad - concurs with MickeyT that its needed nothing doing - then adds that it needed a radiator and a clutch master cylinder.
I can't remember ever having to hoik stones out of the chassis on my BMW, or de-rust and re paint the underside of my Subaru. I didn't need to evo stick bits of rubber on to the soft top of either convertible BMW etc etc .
Please don't misunderstand me. My car is fantastic and you'd need to offer me a huge sum of money to get me to part with it. BUT - if you are not able to deal with some of the more characterful aspects of the car yourself, expect to pay someone quite a lot of money each year to keep it all tickety-boo.
Must go - the Griff is currently my everyday car as the missus' Freelander has a buggered diff....

I must agree with some of the comments made in this thread, but in order to get the best out of your car then you must use it regularly, ive had my car six months and no problems at all, admittedly you are not going to get b.m.w or audi build quality but then again if you buy a b.m.w or audi you are not going to get t.v.r performance or fun or for that matter a dedicated site like this where you can get help and advice from like minded people,so if its mind numbing driving and boredom you want go for the b.m or audi,if its fun and exitement you want every time you drive then it has to be a t.v.r......

well said mate!Quite agree.
I also agree wholeheartedly.
Tailslider mentioned he'd been looking at Audis and M3's - so he should now be aware of the difference!
I would strongly advise buying Steve Heaths book before looking for a car. It opened my eyes about maintaining the car, without putting me off.
TVR's are great, but need some TLC.
