I'm trying my hardest to scrape together the coin for a TVR. I'd love to pick up a Griff, probably around £15k, but I reckon the insurance costs are gonna make it impossible.

Thing is I'm a 23 year old designer, living in Surrey and it'd be my main car. I have no NCB (never had a policy longer than 11 months!). No accidents or claims.

Is there anybody out there who might be in similar circumstances? What sort of numbers am I looking at – ballpark?

Well in that case, it's a no-brainer. I'll buy a griff tomorrow.

Thanks for you illuminatiing assistance

Take the figure you are paying at the moment, double it, add your mothers age, divide by your house number, then add you phone number, or you could just phone an insurance company
The betting starts at £3,500

As a 30 yo living in Central London driving a new Chim I pay £1200 a year, my mate who got a quote for a 98/S Cerbera 4.5 living in Tower Hamlets at 24 was quoted £13,000.

Somewhere between the two I reckon!

Matt.

Insurance company would be the simple solution I know. I just thought rather than be told I was too young by everyone and passed around, there might be someone who's in a similar position.
Save myself some time and agro, you know?

Been quoted £1400 as an only car for a Chim 4.3

6 years NCB, no accident history, age 25, parked on the drive in a low crime area...

All I can say is "good luck".. although, why not just pick up the phone and find out?

oh, my guess? £3250

Give mannings in Henley a call, they are the only ones (apart from tesco's) that are talking sensible money for my tamora renewal (26 years old).

I'm 24 and have got a Chimaera. I'm living in the states at the minute so I don't have any no claims bonus either. I've been getting quotes of 1500-1700 THIRD PARTY ONLY and about 2600-3000 fully comp

Even with 1 years NCD it's still 1100 third party only.
Have got 6 points on licence though

Worst thing is I'm 25 next Feb and I did an Online quote for that age and it's the bloody same

So all that garbage they fed me from the age of 19 about 'Oh don't worry when you get to 25 the premium will fall' was pap! I haven't lost my NCD to crashes, never had an accident. It's cheaper to but trader's insurance and then drive whatever you want, and buy and sell shed once a month.

Rant over.

Thanks Paul,

I've heard of mannings. Seem to be highly recommended.

Sod it. Looks loke I've gotta give them a call anyway so we can find out who wins the sweepstake.

Get your bids in and I'll let you know tomorrow

I'm curious as to how much a Tamora is to insure at 26 y/o?

Sorry if it sounds like pi$$ taking you'll get used to it (if you stay on here long)
For TVR insurance try
A. Manning 01491 578759
Sunninghill 01276 486086
And don't forget to let us all know what they quote

What I meant was a Peugot 306 - thats all you'll be able to afford to insure.

Seriously, I doubt if you'll be offered cover at all. If you do, without NCD, it will be prohibitive.

Sounds familiar... made a company redo the numbers so I was 25... saved £30! (theiving gits! )

Don't worry, it's all taken the right way.
I'll try and find some time tonight to drop them a line.

Can't spare the time at the mo. I should really be working not gassing anyway.

Seems I'm excluded from the gang until I hit 25

etc etc....

You can probably do better than these, but it will give you a ball park price.

Building up an NCD on some other car is probably the best way to reduce the insurance cost, but that will be a year minimum. 25 is probably a sensible option.

Sensible? We're talking Pistonheads here...

its not exclusion.. you'll just find that gang membership is a bit prohibitive as a youngster..

(says the old git at 28 )
