You'd still rather hit the wall in a new Micra than a fibreglass TVR though!

Or any other car apart from maybe a reliant robin.

My daughter managed to roll anold punto and end up amongst the trees upside down. She and her friend walked away without a scratch, called me up straight away and said I may need the trailer!

Unbelievable what a fairly modern, (10-year-olds) car can put up with.

Makes me laugh when you hear people say fibreglass absorbs impact really well as it crushes up.

Then you see pictures of crashed Chimaera etc with the whole front ends missing!

The good all days of research, development and safety control.
TVR 3000M, first car to hit MIRA's wall at 30mph in the then crash tests and still steer afterwards (probably more to do with the position of the spare wheel than the bonnet though!)
The better the car still looks, the more energy was absorbed by the driver wink

Roberto Guerrero told me that he would rather hit the wall at 200 MPH in a purpose built single seater race car than at 30 MPH in any production car. We were doing 140 on an oval in a production car at the time!

I hit a deer head on at 80mph in a TVR - a chimaera. Would rather have done that in a TVR than a micra.

Ahh yes, but most Micras only do 30mph tops.

The other day you told us there were only 18 TVR deposit holders left. You should change you’re user name to “uncle Albert” and start with “when I was in the navy”. hehe

In Australie (also LHD) they will come this year with the new Bolwell Nagari 500
with a 500hp ls3 and lightweight body etc, a bit TVR-ish ;-) prices start at around 110.000gbp

but I guess importing etc will add also lots of gbp?

anyhow, 500hp and they say just under 1.000kg...great specs ifso.

their last model the 300 was not very nice, so they will come with a new modell limited production later this year.

It is planned that the car will appear for the first time at 2019 Motorclassica, a classic car show in Melbourne in next October. The reveal is to mark this year's 50th anniversary of the original Mk VIII Nagari. Furthermore the Nagari 500 was said to be a new design complete with a composite tub combining carbon fiber and Kevlar. This will be crucial to keeping weight down—likely a dry figure—to less than 2,200 lbs.
here a lovely example of a old 1972 Bolwell Nagari

and here some more about bolwell v8 cars

Elon Musk hit the nail on the head at the Tesla Model Y reveal when he said it was relatively easy to build a prototype but insanely difficult to mass manufacture a vehicle reliably and at scale. So what Les and his team have done upto now by designing/building a prototype is just the easy part and I think he's now realised that building the factory in Elon Musk's words is a hundred times more difficult to achieve. I really do hope that some good news is on the horizon but I'm not holding my breath. I feel the communication has stopped until the Brexit outcome has been confirmed but think it will be extremely difficult for the Newco to survive in a very volatile industry with profits dropping for many established car manufacturers. I'm sure we'll hear something good or bad in November.
Partially agreed. I think there still is a huge difference between handbuilding 1000 cars per year and producing hundreds of thousands in an industrial, world-market-ready fashion. But still, building it is the more difficult part.

Ha ha. It’s nearer 11 now would be my guess.
But yes I did hit a deer in a TVR at relatively high speed. The front n/s wing took the majority of the impact. It was interesting how the impact energy travelled down the length of the wing evidenced by lots of cracks etc. Whilst the car looked terrible and was also covered in blood and fur/hair I was able to drive it a mile to the station.

Was the 18, a Gazza Hypothesis or founded on any evidence. Or just freestyled after a couple of pints hehe

A complete guess but the point is that the number of remaining deposits is going to be lower than the number of seagull deposits on the average car parked in Brighton.

Agreed. I wasn’t happy about the car damage but I was saddened to have killed a beautiful creature.

They are simply different. Many small manufacturers (UK-based especially) have made the mistake of believing small volume manufacturing is easier; in many ways it is harder.

When you say "Les and his team", I think you mean GMD. I think GMD produced the prototype, handed it over to "Les and his team" who have then displayed it at some events, driven it, slowly, around an industrial estate, (as part of an event), and then put it on display at their base and left it!
