My wife’s cousin has a Mercedes SLS but uses his 1959 Austin Healey frogeye sprite more often.

Says something about our overcrowded roads in the south-east I think!
A decent moped would keep up, dare say even a push bike could maintain 20 mph biggrin

The problem with nearly all classic sportscars is the small door openings and difficulty of entry / exit,,it’s a real thing for the over 50’s,,,,
Tvr corrected that with the Chimaera rofl

Best looking BMW in ages !!! The forward-leaning grille is a statement, like it. Never thought i'd say that about a BMW. Totally love the side-profile of the hood.

Unfortunately, it's a concept and seeing the final car will make you cry.

That new BMW is bloody ugly. I really cannot agree that it looks better than the Griffith front.

Changing the Griffith lights is an easy project as they are not yet fixed in stone.

Aren’t they linked? Better front means more orders, more positivity about the car, more money from deposits, more chance of investors etc etc.

If you’re looking at investing in the project and you see loads of cancellations and negativity about the front and think it looks ugly yourself, you’re less likely to think it’s going to succeed and invest in it.
A part of the situation yes but a long way down the list of reasons why there’s no production yet. Almost dropping off the bottom IMHO, a bit like thinking the rainstorm is why the ship is sinking.
Seems to me the looks are one of the main problems. If it looked better more people would want one and orders and then funding would pour in.
Exactly this. Looks are the only reason I got my deposit back.

And the BMW sadly suffers in the same way, ridiculous frontal view. Even to the point I think it’s s PH type wind up..

Big grilles are the trend du jour. Sure this one's a concept and will be watered down a bit. But big it will be. Look at what Audi is doing in their newer models.

Funny thing is, it taints all other models as well and makes them look half-assed in comparison. If someone starts, i'm sure a lot of others will follow.

Fortunately Audi’s design chief has realised that front grilles can’t keep expanding and will perhaps now start to move back to smaller ones.

The writing is on the wall when the non-premium manufacturers start doing it. Then you know it’s the end if that particular trend. For example, the current massive grille, hyper aggressive styling trend is done. Look at the current Toyota Camry and Avalon’s styling for confirmation of that. Ridiculously overdone things.

Doesn't look too bad, quite good for an Audi actually. That's maybe because it's very Camaroesque. Funny that it has a door side profile and the Vent similar to the one of the new Griff.

I read a statement from the BMW chief designer regarding large grilles. He too said he wasn't sure about the size, but somehow it's hard to scale back. I'm sure we'll see lots of big ones in the future.

That is a very handsome car.
Lovely sides, anyway. The front reminds me of . . . someone? Oh yeah! That’s who!

Why has it gone so wrong for TVR? Witness the spat on PH news between Porsche and Tesla for the ring record for an electric car. How do I not want to own either!! Nerds computer geek cars!!

Underbody aero, no thanks, we want smoke, noise and outrageous looks. None of which the Tesla and Porsche have and looks the TVR doesnt

Should’ve been (looked like) a Sag but a bit bigger with better build quality and more power... the awesome looks were already there, what a waste of fabulous potential.. I’d call it arrogance.. stunning design theme, just threw it away... makes me angry...

It’ll be interesting to see if they quietly wind the thing down and the deposits are lost.

Do the have to give notice to the deposit holders.

Presumably they could just leave it dormant.

Theoretically any ideas of TVR winding up/disappearing or the project failing should have been quashed by the last update which promised a start on the refurbishment and other goodies presumably to knock on the head all pessimism.

However clearly the update did nothing to allay any fears - it was far too late and opaque to reverse the idea the project is still in serious trouble.

It was 2015? when LE first announced he had taken over the TVR brand and was going to build a new car.

We are now 4 plus years further down the track and they are still trying to get investment. If they haven't been able to get enough investment over the last 4 years having had a prototype on show for at least 2 years, with an initially full deposit holders list, the signs are not good for any future investment.

There is still far too much to do to bring what is already an outdated car to production to give any investor comfort in the current climate, but maybe they will prove us wrong, but I somehow doubt it.

Also if I was an investor I would be looking at the medium / longer term future of the company and my investment, and conclude it doesn't have one that is financially sustainable. If Tesla are struggling with their levels of technology and production what hope for TVR even in a niche market.

The car world has moved on much faster than anybody probably imagined it could in the last 4 years, what seemed appropriate then is no longer PC today unfortunately.

The last update seemed to me to be almost a plea of desperation to keep the remaining deposit holders on board and told us absolutely nothing new, no time lines, not even a hint that production would be possible, in fact the reverse.

Maybe they should have started the project as a hybrid /all electric car to satisfy the PC brigade but the talk of an add on hybrid system seems to little to late, and makes a complete mockery of his talk of staying true to the TVR DNA.

Cars like the TVRs we all love are not the future unfortunately.

So enjoy the TVRs that are in existence, and let the TVR legacy stay as is,that's as good as it is going to get, which is no bad thing IMO.

RIP TVR.

LE does know a good builder in Wales though so that's some consolation I suppose.

He said builder, not stonemason.

Besides, it would take at least two years for a design to emerge, be ugly as sin and then all go quiet.
