This is the first update he doesn't want sharing. Why? Sounds like its a rehash of the last one (again with nothing concrete to say) and all the previous updates are freely available to read on the TVRCC News pages. confused

Wonder why he's mentioning PH? Surely he's big enough to face some criticism/piss taking/negativity? I'd have thought a site full of car nuts and this big would be an ideal place to sell his product.
Perhaps he'd feel more comfortable on Mumsnet hehe

Bad news when things have got so bad he’s having to hide information about the rebirth of TVR from a website that started as a TVR forum.

I was a member of the forums a loooong time ago, when i had my cerb. I havent posted in maybe 6 or 7 years. I've been keeping an eye on this thread and felt the need to chip in.

Apologies if this has already been said but I can see the parallel between TVR and stainless games. Les has a gaming development history with stainless, from his time in the 90s with Bullfrog.

For those who don't know, stainless produced carmageddon back then, to critical acclaim and more importantly, media outrage. It was banned, which probably gave it a massive publicity shot in the arm. Les starred in their recent carmageddon game (due to investment) and Stainless are developing the in car HUd for the new grif.

Les invested a fair bit of money in stainless' remake of carmageddon. I'm picking figures from my head but it was between 1 and 2 million if i remember. This was in addition to a significant kickstarter backing. The game bombed and stainless have since sold the IP; a shame as they fought hard to buy it back from its previous owner and also because i like the franchise and was a backer myself.

The parallel i'm alluding to is that stainless adopted this 'secret society' BS for backers of the game at higher tiers (you could back thousands if you were so inclined) with various items of franchise paraphernalia promised. Some of these happened, a lot of them didn't. Stainless published the game, presumably made a massive loss and a lot of unhappy backers didn't get their goods (although they were aware of the risk when investing).

Now there is a fair difference (in value) between investing in a car and a computer game but Les is adopting the same tone with teasing nothing updates and secret society rewards. I find it interesting that stainless bombed so hard and could've just fessed up to their loyal fan base about the problems they were having. If Les is in the same boat, it's what i'd urge him to do before he burns himself so badly even the die-hards give up and head elsewhere.

Myself, I am a TVR die-hard. I wanted a cerb all my life, saved and saved for it. I would never be able to afford a ferrari / aston / lambo level supercar and TVR was the perfect brutish, british working (maybe middle) class alternative. I want TVR to succeed so badly, alas my anecdotal 2p is that it probably won't. I hope Les proves me wrong, stop messing about eh?

Well my Cerbera addict husband had the update, which asked that it be kept private. Which amounts to a heap of nothing effectively as it trumpets rewards for deposit holders *including new deposits before the 24th December 2019*.

If I rolled my eyes any harder I would be looking at my own brain.
So the update cant be shared but includes incentives for new deposits. Err... prospective deposit holders presumably cant be told of this incentive because of not being allowed to know about it......

Yeah!

Yeah!
Rewards for deposit holders comes across as a desperate last attempt to shore up the dwindling list if they want to stand any chance of getting more investment.

And all it needed for many DH's not to pull out was a phone call, personal email or decent update...

Secret incentives to place a deposit on a new car. So you can only be incentivised if you know someone with a deposit who shares the info (which they’re not supposed to)

Is this actually the opposite of advertising? Inverse advertising? Veblen advertising maybe?

Guys, relax. They only kindly asked for the incentive thing to be kept to the depositors, well knowing (and joking about it) that someone would post it here anyway (which so far hasn't happened, impressive !).

But don't count on me, i have never posted any updates here and will not start doing so, confidential or not.

I wonder who the business genius was that came up with that one

Looks like it's less for newer deposit holders and more for existing depositeers that already endured this flamefest of 600 pages here and are still holding on to it wink

Meanwhile, another search has been lodged (yesterday) at Land Registry to preserve priority for Welsh Ministers to complete and register acquisition of part of one part of the Techboard site (yes, I meant that).

Form a queue usual suspects to say 'so what' and gratuitously abuse. First place reserved for anyone who thinks Coniston has 3 'n's but likes to critique others' English readit

Given it is only that part that has been asked to be redacted from public purview, what I am surprised is the rest of the update also hasn’t been made public moan
