I don't understand, why would the Welsh hold it back so many years now, if the TVR program looks good and its a empty building and giving work to some people etc etc...

the building sitting there doing nothing (or they rather like some other company in with a bigger wallet and wait?)

otherwise I do not understand, it looks like there is more to tell then we hear now, from one side or another.

but...its a sort of update, the 'dead' talks again.

So still no contractor, thought that had been decided according to LE earlier in the year, he was singing their praises.

Still trying to raise public funding.

No factory available until next summer.

Apart from that all is well in TVR world.

By the time the car is out it will need to have speed limiters and breathalysers fitted as standard.

Christ on a bike. So, they 'will' move in next summer, so I'd guess first deliveries this time next year. What will the next delay excuse be?! The ICE will be banned before they set up at this rate.

Am sure that is mainly bull. Surely any welsh delays are good news for TVR ie the welsh funding repayments may be delayed as a consequence. The big issue remains the lack of private funding. Love that Les is pretending the delays aren’t an issue. Outdated car, reducing excitement etc.

And this came from a non mainstream interview? It’s like finding out your kid has been expelled from school from a bloke in the chip shop queue.

"Tender process complete – YES.
Shortlist of successful candidates asked to provide further detail & any questions – TICK.
Deadline for the above passed – YEP.
All proposals in front of the Government for decision on chosen contractor – WE ARE TOLD YES.
Nominated contractor appointed – DUE EARLY JANUARY.
Work to commence – JANUARY.
Work to complete (Building Refurb) – SUMMER."

(December 2018 update)

The Welsh government appointed their contractor to refurb the building at the start of the year according to TVR.

then

"At last, we are very pleased to announce that we are appointing Jones Brothers (Henllan) in respect of our element of the factory refurbishment and fit-out plans for the site in Ebbw Vale!"

August 2019 update (the famous Can Silence be Golden?)

All followed by the 'secret update'.

And the claims in the daily dish that all 500 are sold is incorrect. TVR's own site shows there are vacancies. rolleyes

Not exactly. They have appointed Jones for their fit out. That not necessarily the same as have the buildings in a readied state to 2nd fix (which is where JTB should trot up).

Is a massive pain in the hoop, but as always let us be armed with all the phacts so that considered jusldgements can be made.

I think it would be impressive to move into a bare factory in july, and have the first actual production cars off the end of the "line" as little as 5 months later!

Even if all the engineering and certification had been done (and it hasn't and as far as i can tell, there is no on-going engineering resource to do it) and all the production engineering (BOM,supplier chain, logistics, assembly, jigs anbd fixtures, EOL/signoff) had been done, even then, to move into a bare industrial unit and have any kind of line producing production spec vehicles in just 5 or 6 months would be impressive. It can be done, but not with the money and resource that TVR have access too.......

And glacial speed at which they have progressed so far, 2030 would seem optimistic.

with the current date stamped on it. Almost identical wording and actually almost a year old.

So no nothing really new.

I also thought it looked like an old report recycled.

This one does appear more up to date - the quote from the shadow business minister seems reasonably positive if not fact divulging

Do you think all the bluff and bluster was because they were always courting investment so had to keep pushing these so called updates to show some sort of willing, I can’t understand the point of these last few years if there was never any money to actually fulfil these promises. Does real investment revolve around Brexit or is that just a Red Herring and it’s really about a total change of direction for motorists the world over and this is just too old tech to even consider as a viable concern.

Hooking up with a hybrid company might be more rewarding going forward, probably easier than getting side exhausts to work for a start biglaugh

If this is to take off don’t we need a new approach?

And a decent publicist scratchchin
