TVR's esteemed leader did say, "Can silence be golden?" Looks like they're sticking to it.... sleep

And here is some non-silent news, finally got my car back from the paint shop after 100 days. cool

Why 100 days Iain? Seems a bit lengthy.............
With my usual impeccable timing, Boris had just announced the lockdown and the car was booked in for the following day. We decided to leave the car at the paint shop as they thought they could still go to work. But they had to close so no work was done. Once they could reopen they did it quite quickly (they say they usually allow 3 weeks but they also had to cut out and weld in a new rear wheel arch section).
It was worth it: they've done an excellent job. smile

So when can we expect to see P38 on track then? driving

Ha, ha.

Gave it a full service and changeD all the oils in everything over the last couple of days. The old RV8 is as smooth as silk. It’s going back on the ramp in a couple of days to strip off all the suspension and fit back the air springs and have that re-calibrated.

Then it will be ready for the track! smile

And I went to Croydon Technical School in South Croydon and then Croydon technical college in central Croydon.

Croydon was a st place then and is even more of a st place now, (Apart from the Fairfield halls where we have spent many a good evening).

We are both well gone from there.

(Not so) Interesting fact: I project managed the refurbishment of the main concert hall, dressing rooms, bars and other communal areas back in the 80s! Feck me, that was a while ago!

Fairfield Halls in the early 80s... Happy Days... Shakatak, Shalimar... No Standing! No Dancing!.
Lived in Purley from '64 to '86, schooled at Whitgift '71 to '80, so I passed the Swan & Sugarloaf daily. Who remembers the Crazy-H burger & cocktail bar?
Would not visit Croydon now if you paid me, but spotting Whitgift's clock tower from the train en route to Londinium still brings back good memories.

Don’t know if the Greyhound which was a little concert hall over the Greyhound bars opposite the Fairfield halls was open during your time.
Spent many a good Sunday evening there. Saw status quo seven or eight times there, atomic Rooster, Jethro Tull, Jethro Tull, caravanCaravan, Focus, Hawkwind, Curved Air, Frank Zappa and the mothers of invention, (although that might have been at another South London venue, the fog is definitely a bit thick now).

An ex of mine make me to see Shalimar there with her.

Enjoyed going to the Cartoon music venue there a lot with mates.

Not been to Croydon since. Not missing it.

Such is the lack of news and discussion to be had about the new tvr, that on the thread about the very thing its spent the last 24 hours on the topic of Croydon.

When there is more to talk about Croydon than newco TVR it says a lot....

Yes I did, well past my shoulders and was riding around on various Triumphs and BSA’s.

Surprisingly, I still have most of my hair now but only about an inch long!

Croydon, gateway to the south.

I remember the overcrowded Kartoom as I think it was spelt. That was at Broadgreen next to the old ABC and also next to a disco whose name I can’t remember at the moment, (blagged my way in at 14–15 years old and thought that my first time at the disco was totally amazing!) Of course in reality it was really stty like most of those places.

Last reminisce. Remember the Purley Orchid? I saw Slade there on a small circular stage in the middle of the disco area. Unbelievably they were backed by the little-known Status Quo at the time. I was about 16 at that point.

Yep, news is in short supply and Croydon is definitely scraping the barrel!

Remember seeing Van der Graaf Generator top the bill at the Fairfield Halls, back in 1971. They were supported by Genesis wink
