What did the update say?

"We don't have any money, no one has bought any bonds and the post-Corona economy has finally killed us off."

But we have turned away loads of money from investors who to be quite frank are not good enough for us.

What we really mean is we are not good enough for them.

Who knows.

Well, now that Ineos is almost certainly pulling out of their new Wales factory, that leaves them with TVR. The estimates are that the government has spent £5m on infrastructure for the Ineos site. They are trying to get their money back.
Ineos may be tying up with Mercedes Benz trying to acquire the MB site in France.

This may help TVR in negotiations possibly? The Welsh wont want to lose more taxpayers cash. scratchchin

Ken Skates - Minister for Economy and Transport - 18 Sept 2019

'I am delighted to announce that this Government has attracted a new auto manufacturer to Wales, creating up to 500 jobs.

Thanks to our support, INEOS Automotive will be constructing a new bespoke 250,000 sq foot manufacturing and assembly plant at the Brocastle Business Park, adjacent to the Ford plant in Bridgend, for the production of their new 4x4 Grenadier vehicle.'

Then 10 months later its all off.

How much longer can the government afford to hold out with TVR? On 23 Jan 2018 the Llanelli Herald printed this:

'On Tuesday (Jan 16), the Government announced that it had acquired a 3% stake in TVR; it has also provided a £2m loan to the company, which says there is another 12 months of research and development to go before it begins constructing cars in Ebbw Vale.'

The Wales Audit Office has been scathing on wasted government money and a 2015 report revealed that 54 companies that had received Welsh Government support had either ceased trading or become insolvent, owing the taxpayer over £11m.

Not good.

But it's a Welsh LABOUR government , they love giving away taxpayers money smile .
Good tactics with COVID too ... Let the UK do anything first ... Then if its a disaster they can say I told you so and if it's OK then say we are being prudent (The SNP trout is playing the same game) ... Can't beat being a fence sitter smile . all IMHO of course

Don’t know if the Greyhound which was a little concert hall over the Greyhound bars opposite the Fairfield halls was open during your time.
Spent many a good Sunday evening there. Saw status quo seven or eight times there, atomic Rooster, Jethro Tull, Jethro Tull, caravanCaravan, Focus, Hawkwind, Curved Air, Frank Zappa and the mothers of invention, (although that might have been at another South London venue, the fog is definitely a bit thick now).
some canny bands there phazed smile I've been to a Caravan concert a couple of years ago and they sound EXACTLY like their album. I saw Atomic Rooster on my 18th birthday, they were probably the loudest group I've heard, mind you at Manchester Uni you could stand next to the stage. saw a number os groups at Newcastle Uni while still at school - Colosseum, Family, Julie Driscoll Brian Auger and the Trinity, Bonzo Dog and numerous others.

We had CCS (Alexis Korner & son), Steelers Wheel (Gerry Rafferty) & Nashville Teens at Hall IIRC

All these A65 BSAs... if ever there was a reason to invest in bearing factors. The pre-unit A10 was a much nicer beast (says another old greaser) cool

The one thing I found with British bikes is they weren’t very durable! I was constantly blowing up the engines, some in a big way like a snapped conrod on a Tiger 100. After several British bikes I settle down to Japanese bikes mainly until my favourite bike, a Cagiva Elefant 750. A real beauty of a bike in Lucky Strike colours and very light for 750 V twin.

Without sounding old those were fantastic days.

Great days, motorbikes and friends, the world was, (certainly seemed) a brilliant place to be.

Couldn't agree more smile

On the subject of bikes, a friend of mine visit's the US two or three times a year and brings back a container or two of classic cars and bikes. He and another guy do this for a bit of fun (his day job is property development), He's occasionally bought back a British bike and last winter he bought back one of my all time favourites, a '68 Bonny, one of the last before (as Peter mentioned about BSA) they went oil in frame (I'm a shortarse compared to Peter). Matching numbers, low miles, not original paint but in brilliant condition. Unfortunately he wanted more for it than I wanted to pay frown
Here's a pic...

While waiting for the next exciting and informative update, I thought I'd take the newly painted car out and take some nice amateurish (aka crappy) photos.
