The Jaguar F-type is under fire from one of the Jaguar clubs as the cars are rusting prematurely underneath.
Isn't the F-Type aluminium-bodied?
My (aluminium) XKR has surface rust on the steel braces bolted to the underneath, but no corrosion on the body itself. It'd be easy enough to remove the rusty bits and treat the rust if it bothered me.

That’s exactly what I did to my P38 range Rover.

Perfect body but obviously surface rust on underside components. Easily wire brushed, treated with Trustan and repainted with black Hammerite, looks loverly! wink

TVR Racing and TVR Finance updates at Companies House today. Both are dormant companies. Nothing has changed.

They are not dormant companies. That is just untrue. They are active companies insofar as Companies House are concerned and as listed as such at Companies House.

You are looking at the wrong part! That is just a mis-description error of the activities of the company. It should say manufacturing for example. The part that matters is the Company Status, where it clearly says Active for both.

Perhaps this is the new TVR 'out sourced' production plant:

TVR could rent a section from G.M. and its only 25 miles from their head office/golf course/hotel/pub. Think of the benefits - no Welsh Govt getting in the way, no Jones Bros to pay to refurb, no travelling from Surrey to Wales (even in the helicopter), test track included, expertise on hand, close to London and near international airports for overseas customers. What have I forgotten? scratchchin

I would not be surprised if they were not discussing that very possibility.

And you think that it's any more likely that Murray will get anything off the ground than TVR? He's 74, has promised a lot in the last few years, but hasn't really produced or found many customers for his ideas.

He is apparently going to spend £50 million on the wrecked site of the former BOC factory, which was latterly where Bristol finally went bust under Kamcorp. There will be 130,000 square feet and only 100 employees? £50 million won't be anything like enough. There are also big planning issues on that site.

It's the rear strut braces on the F-Type only. They can be replaced or painted or powder coated. And if that is a reason to buy an Aston Martin Vantage, that is 3 times the age of an F-Type, for the same money, and you think that an old Aston won't be rusty underneath, then you are deluded!
Was that aimed at me Lucy? scratchchin

Seemingly we're deluded Iain because we apparently think our old Astons won't be rusty underneath... Or I've misunderstood Lucy's post. Not that I've ever really understood women anyway. And that's not to say they don't have their uses............
