Definition of mass production is: 'the production of large quantities of a standardized article by an automated mechanical process' so using semi skilled workers to fit engines and components would suggest not.

I thought that there must be a certain number made to class something as mass produced

The robots used to frighten me, the beeper screaming out and then the voice shouting out something or other about another body shell had come on line. Used to only go there for a pee and check a few things out

Worst part was standing on track by mistake and being grabbed by a robot, inserted into body shell and left lying up front as a dashboard
