New TVR still under wraps! (Vol. 2)
Discussion
I did the RAC/ACU course at Crystal Palace when I was 16.
IIRC it was held over six Saturdays. It involves various riding skills in the huge open areas at Crystal Palace, (where the old Crystal Palace actually was). One of the instructors used to delight us by riding his 650 cc Triumph Bonnieville up and down the big stone staircases which were the original part of the Crystal Palace. We dissembled parts of motorcycle engines and learned all about how they worked, it was very much hands-on.
For the road part, we rode a few times from Crystal Palace all the way to Biggin Hill aerodrome where we stopped for a cup of tea and a chat before returning. It was an excellent course and the foundation of my motorcycling career! It must’ve worked, I am still here
I did that course on my first reliable bike after a plethora of Lambrettas and a PSA Sunbeam 250 mL scooter. It was a great little bike, really quite fast for its size. Are used to change the engine oil every week as I used to clock up at least 500 miles a week. I didn’t miss a beat in the time that I had it.
Strange how at the time it seemed like I had that bike for years but in fact probably only about nine months before I part exchanged it at Pride and Clark in Brixton for a Triumph Tiger 90! A great old British 350 twin at 16 years old, lovely!

And on the subject no one talks about any more, TVR's accounts for Automotive and Manufacturing are due by the end of today.
Uncle Les is probably now honing a confusingly worded email explaining the delay, to keep
They have quite a rigid timescale which might be awkward.

Yes that RAC course was instrumental in me riding with advanced awareness from day one.
I have no doubt it saved me from myself and whatever I rode/ drove from that day on I was a studious road user.
A strange connection is 40 years later I go over to the now derelict Coventry stadium to do a couple of lessons around cones for my CBT which was strange as I often went there in the early 1970’s care of Daren Boococks dad Nigel who raced for Cov Bees too packed stands every week and again as an adult as my friend raced for the Bees Juniors for awhile.
Empty and decaying it was very sad but houses will be there soon so it’s ok I nearly put the moped I was on into a slide flat out but thought better of it I still have my steel shoe which I aim to use one day
If your in the Midlands the intensive course at Mallery park is very good.
Bikes provided etc, nice cone riding up Stebbe straight, I even blagged a go round Gerrards about a dozen times to practice counter steer and the instructor loved it.

Very impressive, you have too much time on your hands
Thanks ML....Only work mornings now (unless its a pm Teams meeting), all from home, gardening stuff in the afternoon, or if it's raining pub or catch up on jobs in the house... weekends tinker with the toys, and cook for my carer when she's here

Maybe I should buy a greenhouse instead of a shed.
I knew you were brewing up something.

I’m now on Puch VZ50’s.
My only reservation is driving in town with no indicators and a war wound that prohibits looking behind me unless it’s via my armpit.
That and Mrs P raising her eyebrows at the 12th engine I have to tinker on.

As much as I am keen to buy a little mopeds of sorts, definitely a classic one, I have three cars, one electric mountain bike and a pair of legs. Even though I retired last year I hardly have time it seems to use them at all!
Not entirely true but it seems the lack of places I need to go to leaves me more time to tinker which I thoroughly enjoy which certainly doesn’t eat up the miles!
