Bulletproof depreciation on the new Griff tho' - only going to cost you £5k for 10 years of non-ownership
It’s a new type of financing model where you don’t give the car back at the end of 5 years, and they give a 5k balloon back to you Edited by m4tti on Tuesday 2nd July 22:46
sounds like fun such Jeep, I saw in the Netherlands it cost this.

Whoever wants to park this Jeep in the driveway must have a very thick wallet: in our country it costs a whopping € 238,707. For comparison: in Germany he can go home for € 119,900, in the US you are the hero of the street for $ 85,900.
so 2 times that of the price in Germany and 3 times that of what the same car cost in the US...its a robbers state? in NLI'd normally feel guilty with such a thread hijack...but with no proper news, I think it's only thread hijacks keeping this thread alive!
Re some comments about depreciation and being worth sod-all in a few years - maybe so, maybe not...who knows?
Before deciding to go for the TrackHawk 'alone' plan A was to buy a used AMG GT and a used Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. I was looking at cars circa 2015 and there were AMGs in the range £60K-£70K...obviously with different specs/mileages etc. Used SRTs (with typically higher mileages) I was looking at were in the range £30K-£40K. I don't know the exact new price of these cars at the time, but specced up with premium pack etc I'd guess someone maybe parted with £115K for their AMG? And I'd guess £65K for the Jeep? I'm ignoring percentage drops, as when/if you come to trade/sell then it's the hard pound notes you've lost that's important not the percent.
So the guy that bought the 'bulletproof residuals' AMG lost about £50K in 4 years, and the guy who bought the Jeep SRT 'worth sod-all in a few years' lost about £30K...and that's with the new TrackHawk halo model depressing the SRT prices.
But depreciation isn't the only cost. Servicing-wise the Jeep doesn't need much more than oil changes every 6000. My current Grand Cherokee Hemi costs about £150 per service and I don't expect the TrackHawk to be light-years different, although it will be more for sure. But if it's costing me more than £600 per year/12.000 miles to service (excluding tyres/brakes) then I'll be surprised. My current Grand Cherokee Hemi has the best part of 120,000 miles on it now and apart from tyres and brakes all it's needed has been 2 wheel bearings, a drive-shaft oil seal, an axle oil seal, 2 ABS speed sensors and a battery...and most of that was only necessary after about 90,000 miles.
So I'm still thinking it has to be the cheapest way to buy/run a new 700hp+ vehicle. And I did get a stonking, jaw-dropping, almost unbelievable deal on it!!! But I did have to drive 300 miles to the dealer offering it...but well worth it. I tied it in with a business trip 'down south' so I still haven't been home with it yet - and I haven't told the wife I've bought it! That surprise comes tonight.
But it also means no 'nice' pictures yet as it's been in hotel/business car parks so far and nowhere terribly photogenic - but here's the beastie when I collected it.
The black is actually a metalflake and lights up in the sun, but just plain black in the shade. And apart from the fairly discrete badging you'd have to be relatively nerdy to realise it wasn't a regular school-run chelsea tractor. OK it's got yellow brembo calipers and monster brakes, but who's going to notice that? ...and a deeper spoilers, more intakes, bonnet vents etc, but again it would be a car nerd to notice what it is.
Drove in to where I'm working this morning and despite being bleary-eyed the sound of the exhausts and the supercharger whine was truly awesome, addictive, and better than black coffee
I was playing around with the infotainment thingy and found all the 'race' (track) pages where you can program-in cooling down procedures for engine, transmission and brakes etc...plus the on-board real-time dyno. Lots of fun to be had.

Oh, on your way home, don't forget to get all the stuff you need for sleeping a few nights out. In the back of your Trackhawk. Two blocks away. Edited by bullittmcqueen on Wednesday 3rd July 11:24

Can we just delete this thread and put the proposed new Tvr out of our minds.
I cant get any enthusiasm for this myself any more. If matey pops up now and says 'oh what a game its been we've triumphed and the Griffith is rolling off the line in Feb 2020 aren't I great against all odds n all that'... I think I would just walk away. After the last 18 months since the reveal all he's achieved is sullying the TVR name. I never thought I'd say it but there are two TVR's:
1. Pre 2007 TVR's. Made by TVR.
2. Promised at some stage in the future or whenever cars with a TVR badge. Reinforced by a Rebellion with one too.

So, earlier today I was tootling back up the A11 In the Vantage (as one does), a steady 70 or so, having been to look at some wonderful cherry Laurel hedging, when this Golf thing catches me... I duly move over (only boot stuff on track days now....) and it shoots past me.. with a Tesla right up its jacksie... kinda quiet and menacing... and I’m immediately wondering if it has a ludicrous button..... big 4 door saloon thingy... all I could think was that I’d just had a glimpse of the future.... dystopian or not, it’ll blow the zombies into the weeds... scary... I’ll stick with petrol.. as Bruce says, old habits.....
Edit, things may have been different had I been in beastie... nobody puts beastie in a corner

^^ Great story, we’d forgotten you drive a vantage.. oh wait.. I’m lying... whoosh
Moving swiftly on, the C8 corvette is with us on the 18th of July, so we’re nearly there. Will be interested in the reception. Talk of potential issues during tests. Talk of release in Europe , right hand drive.

I also tootle along in my Vantage but when I'm driving an I-Pace, which I regularly do, I feel the temptation to mash the "gas" pedal just for the hell of it. The look on people's faces as it streaks (it doesn't roar) away from them is priceless. It's definitely the future and it's here now. The new XJ next year will be equally silent and equally awesome. Edit, things may have been different had I been in beastie... nobody puts beastie in a corner
