New TVR still under wraps! (Vol. 2)
Discussion
Found this one. From the Louwman presentation this January. It's only the drive in, but relatively high-quality and the cars looking quite cool:

(not sure, but it's only got partial sound and motion)

Looks and sounds great. One can forgive the rubbish front end etc. They just need to build the bd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9MBHbw3Xa8

I'm not sure why I read this thread, hope I guess........that and I believe that it would be a great car if it was out now.
I read this thread because its amusing, confrontational, interesting, scathing, abusive, and addictive. Agree with you there Peter but at this rate, by the time it does come out, we may have moved on.
Well I just went through 14 pages hoping to see an update but still no news. I got my deposit back in dec 18 but still keen to see progress and the cars built.
I’m guessing the TVR management simply underestimated what was required to get the venture fully off the ground. My deposit was returned with no quibbles and I don’t believe TVR want any other outcome than to succeed.
Hopefully I will look back in a couple more months and there will be good news.. fingers crossed for all those holding firm..

For me it has, from the outset, been about perceived appeal of the prospective car versus risk of losing the deposit. Initially I absolutely loved the car and was prepared to take any chances in the hope that the project would come good. As time has passed I think the car looks, somehow, less attractive to my eyes and so the potential risk feels greater - not helped by the "radio silence". Hence the decision to pull the plug.

I held the deposit for a while but ultimately I wanted a new car. I realised even if production started in January which certainly wasn’t likely given the previous update, I wouldn’t see my car until mid 2020 at the earliest and I didn’t want to wait any longer. Shame because I really wanted the griff
I pulled my deposit in November.
For me the project has lost credibility. Which is a shame. The venture offered huge promise; GM design etc.
What we have had over the last few years are lots of unfulfilled expectations. These expectations have been fueled by the New TVR team. First it was a range of cars, then production way before now, production in March 2019 in a nearby factory, oh yes and the big news.
May be there have been unforeseen issues that would have sidelined even the most experienced of manufacturers. However, this is not some car pitched as being built in a shed. It is priced as a premium product. It not unreasonable to have expected more. Sure, we can only speculate what has gone wrong, it may be that the factory and EU has been an issue. However, other businesses manage and manage these issues before they become a problem.
Time is the enemy here. How many will continue to wait?

Here's one for the conspiracy theorists; let's assume there's actually not enough cash to go forward.
Option 1 - put out loads of information and keep everyone on the loop, but then in the end concede the car isn't going ti happen. Result - TVR you swines, letting down all these deposit holders. TVR's reputation is screwed.
Option 2 - say nothing; one by one the deposit holders pull out. TVR then announce we can't go forward as all these cold-feet deposit holders have botted it and there's no commitment now. Result - Deposit holders you swines, letting down TVR. TVR escapes with some reputation left.
In truth I'm going for an Option 3, which is lack of cash, so while there's a desire to go forward the project is effectively stalled and they want to sit on that news to keep whatever deposits they've got left just in case a white knight appears to get things back on the rails. But option 2 is a fun one for the folks who think Elvis is alive and living with Princess Di on the set where they filmed the moon landings.
BTW I updated the wiki on deposit holders to say I asked for and got mine back. it would be interesting to see the list properly updated to see who's still hanging on in there and who's cancelled.

For me the stalling has to be lack of investment. The Welsh government handed over the £2.5m and tendered the factory refurb. That took 7 months due to EU regs but I don't believe for one minute that the TVR hierarchy were not made aware of this during negotiations and at the final contract signing.
The conditions of the loan are online at Companies House and while the government can call in the loan at any time, they have agreed to wait full term. Unfortunately one of the conditions is securing further investment to move forward and allow the factory work to start as that is going to cost the government a huge wad of cash. So work has not started - it was widely broadcast to start in January '19 - with a 6 month refurb period. If you were a Welsh minister about to authorise millions on refurbing a factory you would want to be damn sure that the company has the funds to carry out the project and be in a position to build cars.
I think that once proper secure funding is in place then work on the factory will begin. TVR can keep quiet as long as they want but the start of a factory refurb will, for me, be the defining moment.
@Tvrolet - surely Brexit (or not) is going to get the blame too?
