What to replace a TVR Chimaera 500 with?

Thanks all. The new owner has arranged for a low loader collection for tomorrow morning.

He is a keen petrolhead and really pleased it is going to a good appreciative home.

I could have sold the car at least 4 times but had to prioritise an order. I'm happy with the sale and price. I'm not greedy and prefer to have a nice easy hassle free sale.

I do think it is a great car though and cracking VFM.

I have been looking to sell this in the background for some time and it was on Collecting Cars for some time. It was only until I put it on FaceBook and even then it didn't gather pace until I created a FaceBook marketplace ad and also the PH ad. The people suddenly started to wake up and then there was a rush it seemed.

LOL....yes, bit of a weird one. I never gave the red 500 100% throttle ever only 50-75% I would say. That was plenty enough for me. Indeed seems weird to buy one with more power and I wasn't looking to do this as it is far more than I need. It was more about the car and colour but all of it just hits my spot bang on.

Nothing has changed really. I always felt I wanted another RV8 TVR as have not found an alternative that ticks all the boxes. The red 500 was always too fast for what I actually need or use it for. The new blue one will be the same but like the red 500 I will likely just drive it at less than 100%. It was just such a nice attractive and appealing car for my tastes the fact it is too fast was a compromise I was prepared to make

I could always remove the Supercharger but I would expect I won't but just will drive it gingerly! Until I drive it I won't know but certainly looking at it now with more appreciating eyes than I ever did with the red 500. Not that the red 500 was a bad call at all as it isn't......it is very good. Just never been a fan of red cars and it never really lit my fire just on the colour front. Everything else was very good so the new owner has a great car for sure.

The power seemed very linear. More throttle, (full throttle) = mental but just driving it like a normal car didn't give you any unfortunate surprises.

That was NA which normally is more responsive so I imagine your SC car is fairly docile down the lower end.

Add to that, these cars can be driven quite swiftly keeping the revs to 2000-2500 and you'll be fine.........

I think you will be right Peter and hoping it drives as well as it looks. Idling and running a bit rough only just putting in the garage in comparison to the red 500 that ran sweet. However it has only been used 25 miles in 3 years by Ric (last owner) so I think a good run will get it sorted.

Anyone have thoughts on if 98+ RON fuel will be better on a car like this?
