Yes. The coolant cap for instance. It's a VW part. They want £7.50 plus vat for it, allegedly discounted from £22.99! They are all over the net for under £3 including vat.

The Chimaera starter motor is £145 plus vat, plus delivery. It is a Range Rover item, £67.95 including vat and free delivery on ebay!

In fairness to Sprint the chat around technical issues ain’t what it used to be on PH

Ten to fifteen years ago, both were full of stories about how the Speed 6 issues were being tackled by various indies, 4.1, 4.3, 4.5, FFF, take your pick!

The AJP was being short inducted, decat was all the rage, straight through or cross pipes, back pressure etc etc.

Then there were those that binned the TVR engines completely, so there was lots of debate about the Chevy LS engines

Even conversation about exhausts and shock absorbers was quite interesting - Blue Flame, JP, RG or Powers - problems and improvements with Gaz right through to people either loving or hating Nitrons and everything in between

Happy days!

I've been a member for 16 or so years & like to think i have a balanced unbiased view on membership.

I do find local club meets a tad cliquey with processional club runs, although i have attended a few to give my support but not so much of late. The best is hearing about fabulous club runs after the event that no one knows about except a few......

National events are normally well organised and enjoyable although infrequent. Millbrook was good this year but could have been much better with limited options eg the mile straight wasn't available because 'the club simply didn't ask for it' which limited the day to the Alpine circuit & high speed bowl - which were great but difficult to fill a day. Catering was painful & lack of side interests such as part suppliers, specialists or even TVR themselves!

I find the magazine of interest and a decent read but could be improved very easily... and yes i have contributed articles in support. The website well...

The club valuation service is a useful addition for insurance purposes. Some discounts are useful such as NEC classic car show entry discount, events at larger race circuits often non-TVR related etc.

So all in all it has value & interest to a minority audience. Perfect No. Use it or lose it - I'd rather keep it & appreciate the folks who give up their time for for the benefit of others to enjoy the marque.
Hi Andy,

I don't know who told you we did not ask for the mile straight but that's not true, we did try and get the mile straight again, however this time it was not available to us to hire,

I was a little disappointed too as I had good fun on it last time, I managed to get my exhaust so hot after several back to back runs that the rubbish 'carpet underlay' type insulation under the tunnel started to smoulder and then began to burn, Luckily I was able to put the fire out with a water extinguisher from the concept one building before it got hold.

The many side attractions we had were not possible due to the covid situation, however there was plenty going on in the hotel on Friday and Saturday evenings and the Bletchley visit on Sunday was a good day out before the long drive home.

If you like your runs a bit quicker there are plenty of us that also like to do that too, I always tell people to try all the nearby regions as they all are quite different and people tend to migrate to the ones that do the stuff they like.
Hi Richard - apologies for delay - it was one of the official track marshalls that informed me when i asked why the mile straight wasn't open due to the fact the club didn't ask for it, although it had been put forward to the TVRCC as an option. Similarly i have used and enjoyed the mile previously (without the fire !) although i guess my clutch thanked me for it this time....... overall though a good day despite limited access.

Bletchley was very interesting but apart from payment (which cost more than direct entry!) there was no club benefit on my side - a great weekend though and appreciate the organisers inputs despite the few niggles.

I left the club (for the second time) about eight years ago when the monthly meet started to include breweries and distilleries... I mean, really??

Fish and chip runs were OK, but the local PH mob do that as well, with a lot more cars, and more spirited driving.... and more fun smile

Shame really. I went to an MG owners meet some years back, and was mortified to have it pointed out that a couple of the front wing bolts on the drivers side weren't original. Nearly ruined my day.... smile
