So a post about a new TVR still being under wraps gets guys debating pollen filters on VWs and Toyota.

Les Edgar must be laughing all the way to the bank if people interested in the brand or having placed deposits are mumbling about filters rather than the shambolic state of the company he is supposed to be running. I was tempted to put a deposit down right at the beginning and so pleased now that I didn’t. If I had I’d be kicking up more of a fuss than people seem to be.

I must be jinxed. Mrs N7's VW Golf came with "full" VW dealer service history which we bought in November. You might recognise this:

Is that a pollen filter on your vehicle that had been serviced but the main dealer DIDNT change it?
Yep. Apparently the previous owner did not authorise it being changed as it is an 'extra' outside of the servicing schedule. rolleyes

This is an open thread where you can discuss anything you want. The reason? Its 9 years since TVR was bought out of retirement and what do we have to show for it? So we pass the time discussing anything that just happens to be posted up while we wait for the next update in the sorry saga. Feel free to join in especially if you know about greenhouses and veg plots. wink

I always thought it was "fire in the hole". As a warning that a cannon had it's fuse lit.

That was the real meaning of the word epic!

What a guy!

Reminds me of our neighbour many years ago who insisted on having garden fires in an incinerator on a Sunday. He poured petrol in over the rubbish, stood back about 3 feet from the incinerator and threw a match in. The whole thing exploded and knocked him across the garden! I am laughing while typing this. He never did it again! Luckily my wife and I had a ringside view from the first floor bedroom window. smile

When he goes all the way to the bank (is there one still open in Dorking?) and stops laughing, I wonder if he asks about finance for car
manufacturing ?

Now on volume 3 of this topic; with one car (now a 4 years old model) built by sub-contracting the work to an outside firm; 4 years of unfulfilled promises and almost no communication, there is not much TVR talk to keep this topic alive.

At least you encountered car related chat. Count yourself lucky you did not appear when Gardeners Question Time was in full flow.

What type of fuss do you have in mind? Your ideas might just get Uncle Les moving.

In the nicest possible way, Richard.

Can you help with my fuchsia propagation problem please ?

Several varieties are easy to succeed with, but there are a few others that I like, which seem almost impossible to propagate.
The roots grow properly initially, using the cutting in rain water technique, but later when planting the seedling into baby plant compost, failure occurs. After realising they are dead, I pull out the stems and there are no roots present at all.

I was worried at first that he’d blown up the dog but it seem to appear ok behind him.

A man went to the Doctors and said "Doctor, I have a big mole on the end of my willy"

"I will remove it this time" said the Doctor "but anymore and I will report you to the RSPCA"

It seems the new Griff will not now be produced until 2024 according to Top Gear Magazine.

Ooh… thank you Iain… this is clearly a great opportunity to talk about the important things in life whilst Les and the boys are moving forward with the new Griff… work on the new greenhouse is still ongoing as we went camping last weekend and I’ve had to resume working… which seriously interferes with my social life and drinking requirements.. never mind, things could be worse…

Here’s a camping pic….

They put us under a tree and the birds crapped all over the tent so we had to put it back up in the garden when we got back Monday Afternoon to wash it. Never mind, birds need to crap too… have to go now I’m doing butter chicken and bhajis tonight with a Dahl… oh, chillis are looking good but deffo have a nitrogen deficiency with a few so will start rectifying tomorrow. Or maybe tonight…

Good to see that you are not too old for camping Richard!

Personally, I think I am.

I did the TVR car club track day at Cadwell Park last Tuesday. I broke out the little-known TVR Boxster and put it through its paces. It was generally accepted as a true thoroughbred TVR and put many of its larger siblings in their place.
