Todays Reveille Musings:
I presume TVR Newco are hoping it will all go away and they don’t have to do a walk of shame having to admit complete failure defeat. However this should have happened 3 years ago but for juicy grants to keep the bullst the myth alive in the minds of those so inclined.
I wonder if that bloke Shmee still has a deposit, or wether TVR even get that his independent tuber video was the only marketing they ever really had. Edit: I presume his deposit was payment for the vid so yes he’ll still have it.
I’m personally somewhat sad at this sorry-arsed state of affairs, particularly having a small number of proper TVR’s and wishing the marque had a form of ‘current status’.
Oh well.

The reality is Tvr wanted to re enter the market whilst this country has been going through tremendously painful economic down turn then Covid came along and topped it all off.

I’m also very sad about the murky way the present management have gone about this and left everyone hanging but actually the lack of comms is better than the constant fibs told whilst they still thought they had a chance.
At least that has stopped.
Let’s be honest most TVR owners have long since understood this and walked away.

If we all chose another thread to slag each other off and discuss personal affairs then this thread would not exist and we’d all be trying to forget it and moving on.

Most people have made another bad choice and now use FB to discuss car related issues which has left PH bereft of that sense we are all in it together and working to keep our cars and Tvr legacy a proud one.

All I can say is presently we get around 200-300 owners going to the biggest Tvr show which was over 600 only a few years ago.
Did they ever have all the 500 deposits sold I wonder!

Just like most manufacturers going to smaller power plants in the 1970’s Tvr of all descriptions are now facing a very uncertain future and even the old ones become difficult to justify.

Tvr manufacturing is long since dead and it’s time we got used to it.

A marriage between a European manufacturer might have had some merit but when you have names like Aston Martin taking up that slack Tvr design has no chance with its current crop of engineers which is zero from what I can make out.
GM made the car.
The deposit taking and spin got lots of prospective owners interested although I’ve always suspected that was also lame.
The launch at Goodwood had less people than an average pub gig.
Initial impressions were generally lack lustre and nobody at all went wow?
To top that disappointment off they never even tested the thing to show us “ what it could do”
It’s all in the past now and affectively dormant but leaves a bad taste in the mouth for any TVR fan I’m sure of that.

I don’t buy that they have had bad luck with the end of ICE looming, big engines something of the past, covid, semi recession etc. Ultimately they screwed up the car design, the business plan, the plan execution, the funding, the comms, social media, the parts business etc etc. Their dream isn’t dead, it was never really alive.

+1
When they decided to chase larger car production numbers, which meant a lot tougher regulations, & supposedly needing a massive factory, along with all the loans/red tape etc. Once locked into that, little hope.

Maybe if TVR NewCo had collected all the BS they generated over the years and sold it to the gardeners on this thread they could have made some money smile

I for one have given up on Faceache as a source of interesitng conversation on TVRs.
Its abiity to update us on trivia while bombarding us with adverts seems to be limitless.
Its ability to keep me updated on every move made in certain people's lives is also limitless.
Its ability to lose the one intweresting post per month the moment you have read it is also limitless.
Is there such a thing as a selfie filter that I can download onto Faceache, so that all selfies are automatically deleted before In have to see them?
If there isn't, there bloody well should be.

[/rant mode off]

PS, FB Marketplace is quite another thing.
As soon as you have filtered out all the stolen pedal cycles being offered for sale, it is a useful source of things like second hand lawn mowers being offered by people in the next village. My coup de grass broke last autumn, so being able to get e decent replacement for £20 from a retired geezer a mile away was a definite plus.

+1.

Not forgetting it was always Edgar's dream to race at Le Mans. Next best thing was to sponsor another team and make outrageous claims about winning there. Then the team went bust.....

Les only needed (?needs) to produce new Tams / T350s / Sags & Tuscan II in low volumes to stay in business.

I presume that he's got the rights & tooling to make them.

I'd buy a 2023 version of any or all of those without hesitation.

As would 1000's of previous owners.

And quite a lot of new ones as well.

Move on to a 'new' Griff when there's money in the bank.
