You don't buy a TVR because it's practical, or because it's economical. It's all about the insane driving experience. In that way I see the Chimp as a compromise. Practical Shmactical – Griff 500.

No, it just means that softies are scared of the Griff

Good point, and I think Chim 500 sales vs Griff are about 1 : 1, so it's probably evens for those wanting the beasty.

Trying to be unbiased now, both cars are obviously gorgeous and I think there's little to choose between the two.
I prefer the curvier lines of the Chimaera, the bulging haunches that ooze sex appeal. And I prefer the Chimaera dash - more sculpured around the driver.
The Griff rear end looks a bit unfinished (que Tamora), but the nose is great.

A Griff says 'I'm going that way and I'm going fast'.
Whereas the Chim is a bit more 'try if you dare'. To me a little more subtle.

A Griff is a Pirahna, whereas the Chim is a Pike.
Both great for catching minnows (or passing that SRi).

Having said all this, my next car will probably end up being a Griff.

P.S. Oh yes, and a Cerbera is a Baracuda.

never thought I'd see TVR's being likened to fish...(unbiased mode on) I do think the Griff has a roomier and nicer cockpit, I found the beam accross the passenger side a nuisance on the Chimaera

No, it just means that softies are scared of the Griff ('ooh it's a bit hard and I can't get a settee in the boot...')

'but then again you can upgrade the front of Chimaera with the speed 12 lights to make it look a hell of a lot meaner and with 18 inch Spider look-a-likes'

So that it looks much less like a Chimaera, you mean?!

'And the bulging sills on the Chimaera strike you when you look at it.'

'Bulging sills'? I thought they were ruts...

All in good spirit, you understand - the Chimaera is sill the second-nicest TVR!

Ohhhhhh, looks like I touched a nerve with someone there!

Schuey: you mean it took you from 12.28 until 12.44 to read my post?

Don't take it badly - I said the Chim* was still the second nicest TVR! Just to cheer you up, someone described my Griff as a half-sucked boiled sweet...

no worries apache.. wasn't taking in personally...

The Chim has the rather handy extra "handle" mould in the door which means you can plug your phone into charge in the lighter socket and tuck it out of the way in the door..
