If you want to impress your mates, buy a Griff.
If you want to impress your mates and the girls...
Buy a Chimaera.

That's quite a good consideration Jarcy, and definitely one I need to keep in mind. How come most of the girls on here who've answered have said Griffs are their faves though? Maybe they're quite manly....

funny how the griff became a "cult classic" in the words of evo mag, and defined most of the modern tvr styling and the chim didn't, doesn't, never will.

Don't know why it is! I'm definitely a girlie girl and I still love my Griff...

Mind you, I'd love my Chimaera if I had one I suppose, but then again I did choose a Griff over a Chimaera!

Nothing else throbs like a Griff. Also prefer the looks of the Griffith - much more retro.
So that's another girl for the Griff

The Chimaera rear end looks much less like a kit car because of the nicer boot and perspex lens covers - the front of the griff looks great IMO - but then again you can upgrade the front of Chimaera with the speed 12 lights to make it look a hell of a lot meaner and with 18 inch Spider look-a-likes

Whereas the spiders wouldn't look right on the Griff and a modified rear end on the griff (i.e. faired in afterbuners) dont look as hot (IMHO) as they do on the back of the Chim.

Lets face it - the only view other people get is the rear end

And the bulging sills on the Chimaera strike you when you look at it. I must admit though the look of the Griff is starting to grow on me and sometimes I do wish I had gone for a Griff - then I pop up to the garage

On the road there's not going to be a massive difference - on the track is a different story - but then how many times does 80% of owners go to track days?

'3 : 1 sales - cheque books speak the loudest.'

No, it just means that softies are scared of the Griff ('ooh it's a bit hard and I can't get a settee in the boot...')

'but then again you can upgrade the front of Chimaera with the speed 12 lights to make it look a hell of a lot meaner and with 18 inch Spider look-a-likes'

So that it looks much less like a Chimaera, you mean?!

'And the bulging sills on the Chimaera strike you when you look at it.'

'Bulging sills'? I thought they were ruts...

All in good spirit, you understand - the Chimaera is sill the second-nicest TVR!

The fact that you can even get golf clubs in the back of a Chim means it's got to be a GRIFF! (or a 400SE)
