Replacement Windscreen from Silvershielf

I know this one has been dealt with before, but I'd like to get some opinions on the fitting company if possible.
Just taken the plunge to sort out a new windscreen from my insurance company, a the stone-chip in the drivers view will fail the MOT I'm told, and more importantly the delamination on the drivers side looks awful!

My insurer (Peart with Highway Motor Polocies at Lloyds) uses Silver Shield with the usual £50 excess
Of course I got the usual, ooh we don't have that car on the system, as they only have the Griffith onwards. But they've looked at their other system, and have on on order for next weke hopefully.
Has anyone had their screens done by these guys and if so were they OK? I spoke to the depot and he says he'll send his most experienced guy down due to the rarity of the car, but I'm still nervous.
Obviously I'll watch the fitter like a hawk, but is there anything in particular I should watch for or warn hiom about, and could he potentially cause any accidental damage?

Autoglass did my S3 and ended up having to do it twice as the first screen leaked right down the middle. Having said that they had done a number of TVR's before so knew what they were like and were very careful.
Only critisism I had was that they left quite a bit of glass in the car which I had to remove. They kept the car for a full day and overnight to check it was water tight.
I used the Autoglass in Kingston.

It is very easy to damage the interior trim around the windscreen, plus not seal it correctly etc
Insist to your insurance company that your dealer does it otherwise it could be very costly. My insurance is through Manning and this wasn't a problem at all.
I certainly wouldn't let anyone who hasn't extensive experience of changing a screen try it on my Chimaera...

I've had one by Silvershield and one by Autoglass, no trouble at all with either, well apart from the small matter of Silvershield being caught out because my windscreen was tinted (they are on most/all TVRs) and for some reason they hadn't even thought to check before ordering the new one. But no problem at all with the fitting itself. I did make sure in advance that they were aware of the potential cost of repairing the interior if they damaged it, and went round with them inspecting the fit of the old screen so there was no room for doubt exactly what lined up with what. (I've seen some cars missing the black border that hides the un-trimmed part of the dash - very ugly.)
I had silvershield fit a screen to a car of mine in the Herts region. Fitting was ok but they left hundreds of shards of glass all over the inside of my car. First thing I noticed was that my hand was bleeding!! A closer look found glass all over the paintwork on the outside too and a new razor blade just dropped in the street.
Needless to say I called the area manager immediately...the most he offered was an appology and £25 back!!!
Must admit - I would hesitate to use them again!
I even wrote to the MD and got nothing back!

I had silver shield do my Griff 500 and it was a 6 month nightmare...
My insurer was Peart and they would not allow anyone except Silvershield to do it...
I had such a bad experience - my complaint letter went to 2 pages with the details.
They might make a better job of the 'S' but if you have the option - take it to one of their fitting centres and 'borrow' their loaner car... and insist
on their best fitter. !

Might speak to Peart regarding getting a TVR specialist to do it, somehow I don't think they'll change their minds though
Which centre did you take yours to, the guys who'll be coming out to do mine are from the Croydon one.
Silvershield guys turned up this morning, took them around the back, open up the garage, and got a "That's not a wedge shaped one!". They explained that they'd had similar problems before with exotics, as the office staff have no idea, and their database doesn't list them very well.
So I'm waiting for another screen....
But, these two guys did seem to know what they were doing, and spent 10 minutes looking at what they'll have to do when they return. The way they spoke, and explained how careful they needed to be, has made me a lot more confident about the fitting.

when I had my screen replaced they had it listed as an "S tourer". Dont know how much I would want to "tour" in an S over, say, a Chimaera but hey. I also seem to remember the 3000S is on the same listed - but I always thought the 3000 had a shorter screen 
Either way, the first one I ordered seemed right but was a few mills too big. They got hold of another one, same make, and it fitted perfectly. Very weird. I guess it just takes a number of attempts to get it right.

Well, the guys turned up again, with the correct screen by Pilkington XXX, great green tint, with a darker top band.
Stripped out the previous scree, took around 1.5 hours to do that alone, then cleaned up the remaining adhesive, while I had a pop at the top of the dash with Autoglym leather cleaning stuff.
Then he started to fit the new screen, but straight away he spotted it was the wrong size, about an inch awry at the bottom in the middle the dash area!
So, the current screen has been left in, so the adhseive doesn't drip everywhere, and it's had some pads put in to make it easy to remove.
Waiting for a different branded one now... Thankfully it's a garaged third car, and the previous replies here made me expect this sort of thing!

How damaged does the screen need to be before they will replace it under insurance? Mines got a nasty bunch of scratchs in the line of sight and millions of small chips. I think the scratches might be an MOT failure (I'll know on Thursday when it's in for it's service/MOT).
I'd like to get mine replaced, but don't really want to take a hammer to it IYKWIM.

I recently had my griff windscreen replaced under insurance by Autoglass.
appart from the horendous increase in wind noise as the roof section now sits 3mm higher than it used to and the screen rubber flying off with the roof down and the fact that they damaged the leather getting the old one out ,I must say I can't recomend the Ipswich branch

OK, I'm now booked in for a visit on Friday by Autoglass to replace my Chimaera screen. I asked for someone that knew what they were doing etc. I'll scare them before they start to make sure they're confident they won't damage anything ;-)
The guy in the callcentre only found one type of Chimaera screen on their system, green tinted with a graduated tint at the top. Same as mine and in stock ... phew.
50 quid excess to get rid of 1 million chips, some delamination and a nasty MOT failure type scratch.
