Not sure I ever remember the speed 12 with those flames on the bonnet... [cue someone-with-a-grudge-against-TVR to insert obvious punchline...]

Mattel do a 1/18 model of the speed 12 with opening doors etc. Looks great, and my son loves it!! I've done searches all over the place to find TVR model cars - no-one makes them because there are no tech. drawings to plan from, and I guess they don't want the expense of buying one for a small production run. Still, who needs a 1/18 Griff/Chimp, when you can have 500 different coloured Beetles/ 911's/Ferraris?

I'd hardly call those flames.... it looks more like it just hit a dairy herd at speed.

It says on the box "Suitable for ages 1+", right? Come on, help me out, my little co-pilot is only 17 months old!

Hah. You think you've got it tough. I don't have any kids. How am I supposed to justify buying one? "Ah, go on honey - if we do have a little boy, he'll umm.. probably love it... in about ten years... maybe."

Due to too many night spent at my place, my nephew now also has the TVR bug. So it's no surprise that he asked for the TVR Speed 12 Scalextric for his 7th b'day last month. If you don't have kid's/nephews/nieces of your own, I suggest you just go out & by the set for yourself. - Excellent fun & the closest I'll ever get to driving a Speed 12!! A "friend" of mine spent a fortune buying eight (including a special edition Speed 12 from a collector in Belgium) off eBay, just to have the full set. He even built (half built)the track complete with little building and pit garages to house them in. I, I mean, my "friend", can send you pictures if you would like to know what a garage full of Speed 12's would look like (it might even give the factory an idea). Thank God I, he has an understanding wife....

There was a guy outside the Stealth pit garage at Silverstone who had made some really good models of all the GT/GTO racing cars including the two R's and the S12. looked really good, he even lined them up in their starting. I know....sad.

Those 'ere 1:43 models are built by SMTS (Scale Model Technical Services) I have one of their Griffiths, and I believe they do Chims, Cerbies and Tuscans as well. They are a bit steep at £75ish, but are well detailed. The Griffith takes pride of place amongst the other Astons, Jags and Ferrari models etc in my current collection. Oh what it is to be a poor student with dreams! (But a Vauxhall Astra is a perfectly serviceable car) If anyone would like to take me for a blast in the a TVR around the Northampton area I would be more than pleased to accept their offer. The models really are very good, and you can get them in a variety of colours too!

Is there anywhere on-line that sells them?
