RE: Smolenski outlines Veyron-beater
Discussion
some one should sit him down and once aupon a time there was a speed 12 ....... it never really worked and when it did we had to put the test drivers (who survived lol ) into theraphy.
in true tvr fation i can see it now, 270mph 1800bhp TVR ! no traction, abs oh and we didnt have a wind tunnel so we havnt took it over a 100mph yet but were confident the customers will do 270mph no problem, now weres that order book....

There is of course the minor point that he doesnt actually *have* a Speed 12 to hand
There's a Sp12 engine in the dyno room at Bristol Avenue; at least, it was there four weeks ago.. A full Speed 12? A genuine one? Not one of JR's development jobbies or his variable belt 6/12 cylinder hacks? Id be amazed if Smolenski even knew it was a 12 rather than an 8 or a 6 !
Im even more amazed anybody left it there!
There's loads of stuff been just left at the factory. Presumably NS owns it all again now and will be clearing it out. Shame because there was an unpainted Cerbie shell I rather liked the look of I don't think I'm on the people NS would like to help out list though

If Smolenski was in it for the money why buy a car company that has historically never been that profitable? As for a Veyron beater, it won't happen he's on another planet of ridiculous. 30k V8 roadster is the way to go. The Griff & Chimera pulled TVR out of the mire for a time and enabled the current SP6 engine cars to be developed.
Peter Wheeler new exactly what he was doing, in so much that in it's present state, TVR had run it's course. Where it goes now god only knows, wasn't so long ago that the yanks got hold of ManU, they're taking over with the North west as the invasion point!!!!!!!

Is a Veyron beater really that hard to build?
Yep, I'd say so. The Veryon isn't just about speed. It's about drivability and reliability too. It was designed in such a way that it can be used on a daily basis, even for just a drive to the shops, yet it's the most powerful, and fastest production car ever made. It's an astonishing achievement. Anyone can stick a 1000 BHP engine in a car and make it go really fast, it's making it usable, and reliable that's the key.
TVR may make a car that's faster than the Veryon, but it'll never be as good as the Veryon for the reasons I mention above. And it certainly won't be reliable!

if they didn't make a profit when griffs were £38-40k Ie mine in 1998!!!!!!
Why would they be able to make a profit now - in 2007 with one at £30k...
There would be a market at £45k ish for a modern v8 simple conevrtible.
tamora, with a t350 fron end perhaps.
IF it could be built for a decent ex factory profit.

I CAN see the wood for the trees.
It's so obvious.
The CAD shots of the Typhoon was just a cover story for the real deal.
Moleskins has bought Eurofighters (aka Typhoons) on the black market
with the help of the Russian mafia. Gets a good deal for cash alledgedly.
(Richard S will be along soon to confirm details)
Has removed the jet engines and installed them into those abandoned Sagaris
shells at the factory and hey presto - Veyron beaters !
It is now clear that the Hamster was driving one of the prototypes on a road test
on Top Gear under the pretence to set a new UK speed record. Top Gear has been silenced by an injunction to naming TVR as the manufacturer to limit reputational damage to the brand.
There is now an urgent review of the traction control systems. handling characteristics
and fuel economy which explains its absence from Geneva.
Talks are progressing nicely to establish a network of Californian dealers to purchase several hundred jet powered demonstrators to drum up orders for several thousand cars.
Prices have not yet be released but only the super-rich or the super-stupid should
apply. Moleskins believes that residuals will be strong. Success in this market will
drive the company forward to produce the world's first nuclear powered sportscar.
Get f*****g real soft-lad !!!!!

This is the only thread I've ever seen, where he's took a 137-0 hammering on the post count.
He normally gets at least one person quoting "we should give him a chance, we're all racist blah blah blah"
But I reckon he's finally f~cked it up good & proper this time

I see trouble brewing with the Americans - this is all going to end in tears. At this stage, NS should just feck off. He may have had some ideas, but there doesn't appear to be a thought out strategy in play here. It has played out like a damage-limitation exercise since day one, with nothing except noise coming from the NS camp involving closures, re-openings, sales, buy-backs, re-closures, moves from the UK, American backers blahblahblah. Every now and again, details of some exciting new car are thrown out there like scraps of bread to hungry dogs to keep the TVR fans mollified, whist he gets on with the important business of trying to see how he can limit his losses.
What a total c**t. How to take an exciting brand with a burgeoning global image, give it to a child, and watch it implode. Have I over-simplified? Maybe - but I doubt there was much more to things initially than a kid with a penchant for fast cars liking the idea of owning a sports car company. To suggest otherwise probably gives this prick too much credit.
Edit - Oh, and I agree totally with those sentiments regarding the direction NS seems to favour for TVR. It seems to be beyond the ken of this moron, that TVR was built upon the notion of impossible glamour at affordable prices. It's all very well having a halo model to secure headlines, but it's the 30-40k sector that TVR should be focussed on. Again, a Russian billionaire-child is probably not the first candidate I'd select to discuss issues like value and affordability.

The thing is even the "baby" model Tamora caught enough headlines with a power to weight ratio to make a 996 Turbo look a little limp!
I just don't see the point in the Typhon unless your rolling in money and are succesful, and want a silly model to be the cherry on the cake...
But to be in the current situation and be suggesting this car is just school boy fantasy!

It had 12 cylinders and 'Speed 12' on the rocker covers. It looked genuine enough to me.
Ive just done a little research on that lump sitting there, the query came back as "utterly useless, best used for display purpose only and thats being kind to it!" A fairly abrupt answer!
Shame though, it would make an excellent coffee table on ebay
