Hi,

I believe that the 2000 models of the Cerbera are different to the older models,

quote:

For the 2000 model year, lights, A pillars, roofline and seats were changed and lightweight bonnet, doors and bootlid were introduced on the Cerbera 4.5.

Are these the only technical and cosmetic changes? can all these be retro fitted? and excuse the ignorance but what are 'A pillars' ?

What were wrong with the old seats and rooflineing or was it just a change for the sake of change?

Hope someone can answer my questions or point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Don't own a Cerbie, got a Griffith (which th eroof comes off) but the A pillars are the bits that hold the windscreen, (B Pillars are behind the doors, C Pillars are I guess behind the doors on a 4 door car and D pillars are at the back) anyway, if you look at the newer cerberas you will see that the pillar has a body coloured moulding on it to make it resemble the Tuscan pillars. On older Cerberas you can see the windscreen surround. That's all it is. R...

The "New" cerbera has 1)different A pillars (thicker, with no carbon fibre), they also flow into the roof line 2) No carbon round the rear window 3)The same seats as the Tuscan 4)The rear lights are changed from the Fiesta ones to 4 individual lights.

The 4.5 (LW - Light Weight) has Tuscan style front lights, and is made of a lighter fibreglass....

There is somewhere withing the TVR section on Pistonheads showing all the changes..... www.pistonheads.com/tvr/cerbera/newCerbera.htm

The lights can be retrofitted, as can the seats, but the A pillars can't be changed.

The roof was also changed hence the "Bubble cerbera" comments that started up when they first came out. Seats are much more supportive with removable swab for extrea head clearance when wearing crash helmet.

Removing the Carbon was stupid, it was a nice touch and the new cerbera doesn't look as good without those little touches.

The twin lights at the front (not really like the tuscan at all when you see them) don't look as tidy as the Zertec one's (only IMO). They also introduced a DAB tuner on this model.

As far as I'm aware the fibreglass itself isn't lighter - it's a different "honeycomb" method of building the panels that produces the weight saving. Only as far as I am aware / was told.

I enquired about getting the new lights fitted to my 99 4.5. - I was told they would only supply to LW 2000 onwards cars. i.e no retrofitting!

TVR won't do the conversion, but Zertec will supply the parts, or do the complete converstion for you.... Can't remember the price, but there is a link to Zertec from the PIstonheads site.

Thanks Olly, - it's the front ones I would like, but all the aftermarket ones I have seen, seem to require blending in to the wing and a total front respray, with no going back to the old look. The TVR ones are "slot in" with the same shape cut out. - What I need is a mate who has a wriiten off rear ended LW 4.5 who will sell me the front lights!!
