Would love a 4 poster ramp, but height restrictions negate the hope of that, was leaning towards the levo artis system but found this item on ebay...... wondering if it might be suitable for a Griffith ,its a tiltable system that uses two padded plates either side of the car,i presume along the body or chassis tubes, once raised to level height it can then be tilted so either front or rear is raised higher, then locked off in position....raised by a manual crank handle,or an electric drill... obviously not full access available underneath but far better than jacks and stands.... opinions on its suitability?

I don't like that either....With a TVR the best place to support the weight it is on the tubular chassis and with that , if any other point is lower, it will take the load.... exhaust, gearbox etc....and it doesn't look very safe. I wouldn't work underneath it.

The spec says single phase (optionally 3 phase) and IIRC at the NEC they said 16 Amp slow blow fuse is sufficient but you should confirm this prior to running services.

Hi Guys,

I know this post is quite old, but hopefully some of you are still watching it! I think this lift would probably fulfil the requirements of some of you.

...and here are some very nice pics of it in use:

Would any of you be interested? If so we could share the shipping costs. I will be buying one for myself even if I have to pay full shipping.

It's just absolutely perfect for my setup. I'll be able to store it against one wall of my garage like this and using the optional dollys, I will be able to spin my car around so that it's length runs the width of my double garage which will give me a lot more space to work around it.

Let me know if you're interested in getting in on the Group Buy.

Hi cbp1,

Looks like it's going to work out at about £1600 with the optional dollys, or ~£1500 without. That's a worst case estimate. The distributor is going to call me on the 26th to talk prices, he reckons he may be able to do a better deal. Of course the more people we get, the cheaper the shipping will be.

Best Regards,

Finnbar

I have revived this old thread alongside another current one running in another discussion. I went to have a look at Quinny,s lift and am very impressed. The portable 4 post lift discussed has had a significant increase in price and now incurs delivery costs making it quite expensive. I have researched buying a lift and have found a UK supplier who can supply for under £1800. I have been and had a look and it is a very good piece of kit. If anyone is intersted please contact me and I will see if a discount for a group order can be negotiated sTeVeR

Bizarre, I've just been looking at this thread after talking about it this weekend.

According to his website (updated in March this year), the Dutch one is still £1620 inc VAT + £150 delivery, still good value imo.

That's very odd I must have had a different version cached on my PC 'cos it was saying including VAT, then I typed the address in manually after seeing an ad in this months Classic Car Mart just now and you're correct it's now £1620 + VAT

I'd still suggest, having seen the quality of the Dutch ramp it was cheap for the money and is still reasonable. Have you any pics or website links for the one you're talking about?

A chap across from me bought one a couple of weeks ago and told me he had got it for £1770 (1620+150 delivery), its the newer version, has limit switches top and bottom, beefier pulleys and electric lock offs, must admit i prefer the lever on mine for the lock off release rather than rely on electrics.

I purchased mine app. 9 months ago. Brilliant kit. Had the top chopped off to fit under my 6ft door runners.

I have one of the 4 posters (bought from a different guy but looks identical to the black one on the first page)

I have had it for eighteen months and it has been a revelation. The only problem I have is the seal for the lever to make the lift go down seeps fluid. I need to take it to bits but unfortunately currently doing a body off of my Chimaera so need to use it for the time being,

. No more scrabbling around on the floor and It makes a body off a relatively simple task.

The only thing I would say is that I was not happy lifting a car to any height with the casters on in a true mobile fashion. would be interested in other peoples thoughts on this. I bolted mine to the floor and the casters were re-purposed as a large rollerskate for the Chimaera body.

Had mine 4 years now with no problems, great buy, wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Same goes though its never been 'mobile'- not much room for that in a single garage but its not bolted to the floor either as its stable enough anyway, probably will get round to bolting down sometime
