Crikey, this certainly isn't my experience of Nitron, and it sounds from Graham's posting of the e-mail that you didn't in fact talk to Guy directly, is this true?
A few points here need to be addressed :
the Nitron is an exceptionally good product, the damper you had is the earlier NTX version from the sound of it and the time involved, these are no longer made and as such rebuilds aren't possible on that product. On that basis I think guy's apparent offer to sell you discounted current products to be very generous.
I can't believe you think Guy is unhelpful, he's one of the MOST helpful people involved in the performance industry in my experience, could it be that you addressed the issue in a poor manner?
Where did you get the dampers from? .. they should be your first point of call on any issues you have .. at least for a check over, and if they are indeed faulty how come this wasn't picked up at any service interval or when the dampers were sent back for testing? (you did send them back for testing didn't you? .. Guy recommends this be done about every two years anyway, if you didn't then you're pretty much on your own there).
If you're interested in performance I assume you have some kind of mechanical sympathy for your car, and some degree of driving ability? .. if the dampers are as bad as you claim did you not feel their performance dropping off and if so why did you not investigate immediately? ..
I'm sorry but most of your comments on this thread and others just don't add up, I would suggest either you have misinterpreted some points, not been made of others by your supplying fitters or just expect too much .. let's examine some facts:
nitron = high quality damper up to Ohlins and Penske standard at half the price from a small concern who pride themselves on excellent customer care with a loyal growing fan base, your experience is very much in a minority of one as far as I am aware ...
Joolz .. Nitron distributor and proud to be associated with them.

I have just received my Nitrons direct from Guy (sorry Joolz!) Guy answered my enquiry e-mails within 24 hours, made a point of telling me to ring him if I had any questions when fitting them and they arrived 3 days after I ordered them, as promissed. If this is not fantastic customer service then I would like to know what is.

That's right, seems Guy is now on top of the supply situation, I've just had 5 sets through which brings me bang up to date, so the 3 month waits of old seem to be over now .. which is more good news

If you read the blurb on the NTR kit's on Nitrons site they talk about track day use and how useful it is to have them as adjustable dampers .....

Would seem strange to then say the Warranty was invalidated by this very action ...

Only just picked up on this now, but it seems that there was a misunderstanding here. I conceed that I was utterly pissed off with the fact that my Nitrons had leaked badly and needed replacement - my car had the full Penninsula treatment with the brakes, shocks and bushes all done at the same time. That is an expensive treat and not one to be taken lightly.

Ok, so my letter could have been "nicer" but wouldnt you have all done the same? Anway, what is done is done and I am SHOCKED to hear that my letter to Guy was taken so badly. All I indicated was that I was unhappy and thought that the situation was unacceptable. What I got back was a letter that clearly stated that I would be allowed to buy some new ones at a discount, and to quote "without prejudice".... Ok, conceed that this is reasonable, but there was no mention of rebuilds or offer of investigation.... had this been mentioned (or even inspection) then the outcome would have been completely different.

Communications breakdown and I am sorry to hear that. Maybe I will become a Nitron customer again in the future. But at the moment I am very happy with my AVO's.

One final comment though - it was clearly stated that by using my car on a track I invalidated my warranty on the shocks. This now seems to be not quite true. This is not me being picky or anything - but for the sake of communications in the future, I think it fair for Nitron to confirm and formalise the warranty and what is and is not covered. Maybe it is on inspection or total amount of time on a track .... but it would be worth explaining what is covered and what is not covered.... Some people get support and assistance while others dont.... I would hate to see either Nitron or a customer get caught in the no-mans-land in the middle....

Hi All
(Mrs Brettle here for those of you who don't know...)

Just wanted to add a little something here. I think Paul had higher expectations than it later transpired were "correct" as it were. I don't actually know where this came from but I think he was shocked to be told that they needed changing. The letter we got from Nitron which I saw (surprised myself to see that it was all "Without Prejudice", but hey ho.) was well thought out about a solution in that (was it Guy?) Paul was offered a discount as an existing customer and not as a result of his complaint, etc.

Paul is v. stressed as we are currently waiting for some keys for our new house having moved out of ours yesterday and we are temporarily without house.

If Guy see's these posts just wanted to say Hi and we know who to contact in the future. Perhaps it was a personality clash or something, but we are certainly not the type of people to try and victimise companies. And certainly from my point of view we don't mean any harm. I have a lot to learn about the whole set up thing so I am keen to hear all the points on this forum (personal political views excluded.)

Gonna go now, happy motoring to all of you with whatever set ups you have. We won't see Loopy for a month or so (I am a girl and can name the car...) but will be looking forward to her joining us in our new house. She will have her own double garage to play in aswell.

See yous around.

Emma

Glad to see the confusion and minsunderstandings have been cleared up and the air cleaned so to speak. The 'without prejudice' is standard business peactice and something I also do as an individual, it is only to protect your own six .
Changing shocks is something on the long term list of 'things to do' and I for one paused at this point, but seeing the below posts has now removed the pause IMHO. Well done to Mr & Mrs B for being big enough to fully explain where the misunderstanding was .

SOunds like a case of just bad timing and it hit you all at a bad time. You know the way these things can escalate for seaming no reason.

I've never met paul, but i have had dealings with Nitron so felt compeled to reply with my experience. I certainly didnt mean to offend anyone and hope i didnt.

The worst part about all this is it now looks like i've talked myself into a px deal to upgrade to the latest dampers ARGHHHHH....

cheers
