Hi.

I have one of thoose 5000M and I got a great deal of paper about it. I am not a fan of reading but like to race so I have not read them at al. If u like I can answer qustions u have about the car.

I bought it in feb -07 back in Sweden. What I heard is that it was brought back from the other side of the Atlantic in -00. The man who brougt it home did not like it and the other man who bought it thougt the same. It was to wild and crasy. I´d liked it a lot and drives her but not on the race track.

Henrick: If your car is the black one that John did, then I have heard stories about it from the horse's mouth. It is a shame that we are on opposite sides of the pond. We have a slightly built 302 Tamiar with an automatic for the Spousal to drive and a 302 Taimar stroked to a 347. It would be nice to compare all 3 but that is not possible with that little bit of water between us. We can be reached at:

Before the Griff I owned a Taimar for 12 years, and regard myself as a little bit TVR knowledgeable. But I've never heard of a 5000M until now. Don't remember it mentioned in the TVR books, and I think I've got them all, but not read them in a few years.

Has anyone got pictures of the 5000 M's please?

I would like to do a feature on the 5000Ms. After our national TVRCC show this weekend here in the States, I'll try to get in touch with John and Doug to see how much info I can get on the cars they built and collect photos in hopes of doing an article.

Marshall: Derek from Sprint sent e-mail to me about that very subject as he is willing to do legwork to fill in any blanks that we have on the 5000M subject. Will have to talk at or after Woodwork.Have you heard if Doug or John will be attending???

Hi

Yea I´v got a black tvr 5000M but I dont know that muck about it. I´v got some papers from Tvrcc USA who made them in the late 21 century. I´v read them when I bought it and after that I have them drawer. I´m sorry that i´m not a historic gyu nut I will bring them from the darkness and read them. I´m a racer.

Of course its a pitty that there is an little lake between us ( sound if we were married) and it would be fantastic to race them. I send u my email adress so we can be in touch.

Best reagards

Richard....... are there records of which are the cars that were sent out to be done.
Adrian
Not very clear, our records are by chassis number and we don't have a definitive list of which chassis numbers were sent out to Canada.

Its very possible that some of the cars that we just know as being exported were destined to go to Canada.

Wayne,
Let me get "Woodwork" behind me and then I'll see what I can do about working on a 5000 series article. As for Doug and John, neither is registered for the weekend.

It was news to me that any cars went out minus drive trains (from that era) but I would of thought that with a little digging the chassis numbers fed back off the cars will define what the records show them to be from when they left the factory. Adrian@

I would be very interested to here if there were any from "new" 5000Ms.

If they wern't however (and I supect that is the case) they're just interesting mongrels with no chance of any type of homoligation.

Still worthy of a magazine article in the same way as any other interesting conversion I guess.

Speaking of Mongrels...I was looking at a dodgy 3000M with non std Box today at HHC. Tail shaft is far too long, but these people will insist on putting the wrong derivative box in a car wink

Hi John: Yes somebody was going to ask you. Hope you are feeling fine and doing well. Marshall and I both were going to get ahold of you after Woodwork about the 5000 series cars. I have misplaced your number but I was going to get it again from Marshall or SportsCarParts when I see Todd.
I am still interested in any info you have on our 2 Taimars. (#4283FM & #4387FM.)I can send you a copy of the letter that you made for Joe Morotta as I would like a copy for each car if possible. When I call you, we can set up billing for your time as discussed at a previous time as you deserve to get paid for your time.

Wayne/Sherry Leppard.

Hello all!!
Thanks for the greetings and I am on the road to recovery. It was fun reading all the posts about my little creation, the 5000M and I'm pleased that there is still so much interest. I'm actually going to be interviewed next week by Norm Mort a well known automobile authur here in Canada about this exact topic for a book he is writing! Some of the posts here were right and some were wrong. Briefly the 5000M was done with the blessing of the factory and they recognized it. They even painted one body up with the "Coachwork Band" down the side with 5000M in it so that sort of says it all!!!! They were only available for the Canadian market. They all started as new cars and were registered as 5000M's. Most were shipped over less engine and transmission but the first came with a 2500 engine that never saw the road. It was a 1975 model and as it happens I recently acquired it back after 10 years of storage.
I'll have to spend some time and write a full history to try and give everybody a good insight. It might be a very interesting story! Oh by the way the Black 5000M mentioned was in fact silver at the beginning and was the one that went into the back of a truck at 60mph (both driver and passanger walked away!!!)I bought it back and completely restored it with a new chassis and kept it for myself until it was sold to the fellow in Sweden. There are many, many more details to be told but hopefully this will answer some of the questions and mysteries posed!!!
Keep smiling,
John

O/T and apologies...

Tailshaft is only 1 inch longer than standard!

But I'm not trying to get homologation papers for the M...
