As I am working slowly towards adding a 302 into my Taimar, I have borrowed Electron's file on his 5000M. He pointed out that there was an interesting doc in it that I should add to the thread. Apols for the poor quality - I had to take photo's as the scanner is sulking.

All sounds very iffy to me. It was never a trie production car. So a few were made by various people - so what.

Why should it have any Homoogation papers - by that same thinking an LS TVR should be able to get them and that is just as daft.

Shouldn't this be in the classic area?

So Wheeler has one big deal. The guy who sold the Russian half a viable company!

You can put anything into anything with enough thought and planning.

Point here is the Factory never made these car - end of. Yes it make a nice car - Great build one, but don't expect to homologate it at it was never a factory car.

Yes Get me;)

Scamander - I think you mean the 620 odd bhp vette based thing.

I want one of those.

But then I like to stand out!

Niice, didn't know this was your new toy/project Steve??
I wouldn't worry or care that PW's M has this, you want you do it. yes

LS3, that's an easy 400+ bhp, is it not?

Track or road..maybe both? Look forward to hearing more about it.

LS3 is about 435bhp out of the box on a good exhaust and mapped for the install.

Good job Steve.

Know anyone that fancies a Senisble late Chim with an LS6 and and all the upgrades to go with it? Yep mine.

Have another TVR owner who needs info on 5000M so he can get homologation to be able to race a 5000M....Wayne/Sherry Leppard.
Wayne, Sherry,
when I contacted HSR many years ago, they told me that they'd let me run my car, that they'd find a class for me (don't know if that is still so as their ranks have swelled in the intervening years). Have your aquaintance contact the responsible parties with each sanctioning body who's races they're interested in competing in. I am sure that there would be a class that they could fit into within the SCCA. If memory serves, SVRA and VARAC had more restrictive regulations. Some organizers will allow individuals to race their cars but not earn points, others will group cars in a class in which they can never be competetive.

I am sure that each sanctioning body has varying rules as to what constitues homologation. Are 1965 Paxton supercharged 289 Mustangs eligible to compete for points? There were 32 made by Shelby and none by Ford but Paxton superchargers were available on Mustangs from 1965 as a dealer option. Some view dealer options as OK and some don't. Just check around. At the very least, someone will probably put it in a "specials" class.
Good luck to them,
B

I have had the Griff200 for 2 years (it is ready to rebuild - had 4-5 rears in france being stripped and all parts refurbed or in replaced, or race bits bought), I have done something like buy trick induction, rare Shelby Carb (reburbed), CR Toploader box and bellhousing but not alot more. It really is ready to put back together.

Time to move on. Someone else can have fun at events and generally enjoying the Chimvette (I have had it in this spec now for 3.5 years). Just want out of fast road stuff for a year or so). The TR racers will be both ready to race next year (and likely road registered again for the odd blast), then the Griff later. What more do I want. Have wanted a Griff200/400 for 15+ years. It will be even faster than the Chim. Aiming for simialr power to an LS3 but it will be full race (with the odd bit of nice trim for the occasional road blast).

I'll except sensible offers for it. It would cost a heck of alot more than it is on for to do it all again (if farmed out for the conversion or not much less IF someone could do it all) on another good late Chim, so any one with half a brain will see it is a bargain.
