Sorry "Neilv", I'm not ignoring you and I did read your posting. I'll tell you what, somebody is going to have to start coming with me to prevent me from doing something I might afterwards regret......A very pissed off TVR owner.....whose love of the marque has just about worn right through.

keep a record of all visits to try to get resolved, keep original supplying dealer in loop. Talk to citizens advice beauro - from memory they only get 3/4 attempts to fix a problem and if they cant then you should be able to get a refund...perhaps, although it may be deemed that you have accepted it due to length of ownership / miles done.

Be careful to get this sorted prior to the end of the first year warranty.

Benno, I am certainly keeping a record of events, hence my stats for the car so far.

I know you have given up on TVR and bought a Porsche and I wish I had followed my head and not my heart and bought the 911 I'd planned on buying. Don't expect you to reply as another ban from Ted might be the result....but right now I think you made the right decision.

I almost dream of the day I can post something positive on this site about my TVR and if I do, I will make sure everyone knows and has the opportunity to take the piss and wind me up.....but right now it's only a dream.

Well, I've calmed down a bit now the Easter long weekend is over and its back to work.

I know that all cars have problems but what winds me up about this one is that it has had the problem for weeks and it is such a long process to get it sorted out. First the car has to be booked into the dealers...couple of weeks delay. Then the dealers run through their diagnosis when they have time.....nine days. Then it has to be booked into TVR Power...eight days delay and then they start working on it....when they have time??

Fortunately, I am away on holidays the first week it is at TVR Power but any longer than that and I suspect I am going to have to hire a car as well as paying £560 a month on the lease.....Does anyone know if Power have any loan cars?

I sincerely hope that Power can sort the engine out for me and I can finally start enjoying driving a TVR without any problems. If they can't then what alternative do I have but to go after TVR especially as they have my money and I seem to have a runt and a warranty.

Finally, the dealer who has been looking after the car lately is a lot better than the original dealer I bought the car from who let me down several times before I moved to the current dealer.

APM, that is a very generous offer and thank you very much. There is a glimmer of hope right now....I dropped the car at TVR Power this afternoon and what a great bunch of guys they are. After about 20 minutes chat with Dom, the manager, I had the distinct feeling this he is going to get it sorted out for me.....don't know why exactly but I did. Obviously he knows what he's talking about but it was more than that... confidence or perhaps "if all else fails we'll stick a new engine in the bloody thing"! The down side is that he thinks they will need the car for a fortnight .... engine out and new top engine wiring loom was his initial plan of action. But it would be worth waiting for if the car is finally sorted out. Will post more once progress is made.

Again, many thanks to all who have taken the time to respond with advice and guidance.

John.

My faith in TVR is back in a big way....TVR Power have sorted my car at long last and I have spent the weekend blasting around the roads of the West Mids...I had forgoten just how quick they are when the engine is running properly!!

TVR Power, appear to have pulled out all the stops for me and finished the work in a week. Engine out and checked, complete new top engine wiring loom, new fuel pot and other new bits. Car test driven and TVR Power still not completely happy with performance so tried it with Chim 500 chip (car is Chim 450), to richen the mixture slightly...test drove again and felt it was better. Too bloody right it was, I think the car is performing better now than it ever has.

It has been a very long and very painful road to get to this point...problem started more than two months ago but I have to say a big thank you to TVR Power who were really helpful, turned it round in a week because I would have had a problem with no car to drive in the second week, spent the time tuning the car to the point where it now runs better than ever before and leaving me with renewed faith in TVR and TVR Power in particular.

By the way, it is worth giving TVR Power a ring for a quote on servicing, Chim 450 6000 miles £360.45 and 12000 miles £459.12 including parts but excluding VAT. If my experience of TVR Power is anything to go by, these guys are the dogs whatsits when it comes to TVR engines and would do a great service job.

Sorry, I forgot the most important bit...the cause of the problem...TVR Power believe it was a fault in the wiring loom. Engine was removed, stripped and inspected because Power thought it had a bit of a rattle, cats are fine cos the engine has been running too lean all the time.
