Now I sit back, and wait for my speed six lump to start pining for it's ancestral home in Blackpool, safe in the knowledge that if it does go bang Ben will quickly let you all know!!!

I was only doing my bit for Queen and Country against the might of the German car empire!!!

no major probs to report. flash is making something of nothing.

lets just say I noticed it felt slightly odd when changing down in to second. Porsche garage came to pick it up to investigate, they say 'we agree with you, to be of the safe side we will put a new gearbox in for you, dont worry it will either be covered on the warranty or as a good will gesture by Porsche as the gearboxes have a service life of 250,000 miles'.

I have been offered a Boxster as a run around and they are estimating 2 days for the work. An added benefit is that they have offered to fit a new clutch at cost £260+VAT at the same time if I would like. I think this is pretty good service on a 40,000 mile 4 year old car!

Compare it with the shyte I had to endure when the diff went on the Cerby (underwrite costs of removing it from car, stripping it down, then warranty company said wear and tear - after just 21,000 miles + no loan car + major grief and solicitors to get it sorted)

Flash people in glass houses....

Flasher, was that red light that came on on the way to your place any thing to do with this,or was it the extra drag due to the fixed ironing board on its arse that burnt the clutch out.

More like crying into his as Henry passed that penalty to their keeper.....

p.s. don't knock Benno's ironing board...
It may come in handy in Le Mans if he has a Por### travel iron

Boxster loan car my arse. Come clean Benno they have lent you a Toyota Corrolla and you know it
To quote you on the phone " and to cap it all they have dropped a bloody corrolla off in it's place!!"

I was very impressed by the way you made the clutch and gearbox being shagged look like a minor fault mate

I can see this from you one day....

" Oh nothing really, it was just a minor roll. Those chaps at Porsche says it needs a new body, chassis and interior and they will throw an engine in for goodwill. They also offered me a week with Brittney Spears and full use of her Helicopter while they fix it..."

no I was just suggesting it is always wise to have cover, the Prosche comes with pan european cover as standard.

Yep there is a Toyoda outside at the moment, but a boxster is promised for next week when they do the work.

believe it or not a new gearbox has to come over from Germany as PGB dont even hold them, so uncommon is it to encounter a problem.

As before I am well impressed by the service and this reinforces my confidence in the car.

Real world Porker reliability/running costs example:

My bosses 911 (paid top $ from big Porsche dealer, FSH, no money spared, etc), under 40k miles and the clutch goes £1800 to fix as engine has to be dropped out. Three months later the engine has departed.

Every service appeared to be costing him upwards of £1000 as well once they'd fixed niggles like elec mirrors not working.

Me, I pick up my Cerbie Speed Six tomorrow and he's real interested.

Driven a Boxster have you, tvradict? I'll admit the lower spec engines are underpowered compared with (any) Tiv but "hairdresser" - I think not. Each to their own, mind.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, benno. Maybe the loan car will convince you to return to a proper roadster.
