This is great.

Now I would like to see some articles on other companies in the TVR business - either engine builders or aftermarket 'keeping cars on the road' providers (chassis, body parts, glass for rare cars?)
Totally agree

OK,

So we take this:

Tidy up the supension, spend £8500 on the engine conversion and hey presto, you've got a (semi) reliable car that will offer nigh on 400bhp/ton for 30k that isn't a Caterham.

If you're going to keep it for a while then it is a great option so is buying a tuscan with a knackered engine cheap and then getting a conversion done and keeping that thumbup

anything with a fuq'd sp6 is going to start looking like a decent prospect. buy a mk1 tuscan for 12k, and fettle it. £25k gets you a serious piece of kit.

to be fair though, this was the case with the 4.3 and even before that.

Makes a Cerb Sp6 an interesting proposition now...

Can I ask where the capacity comes from please? I assume that the 4.3 is a longer stroke but the same bore as a 4.0 ? So, is the 4.5 the same stroke as the 4.3, but with a slight increase in bore?

I like that idea with that T350C you can get them from 15K or so, then drive it good till the engine fails, then do the conversion...is that possible that way or is the damage to big when you wait till it goes...otherwise its a rebuild and upgrade your engine 2 for the price of one.

I was going to get a 4.5 AJP cerb, might just get a cheaper speed six cerb, have some fun, blow the engine up and get the Power 4.5 rebuild done, it could be the answer!

Don't get carried away. People seem to forget that the engine may not fail for years - there is no written rule saying speed six engines go pop at 30k or similar. Then the 'fail' may just a valvetrain or head problem which would cost much less to repair. TVR Power is offering a 5 year warranty on their engine, which while modified a fair bit from the TVR spec, is still the same engine.

I'm waiting to see how long my engine lasts too btw... driving

Edited to say: The point I'm trying to make here is that TVR's original engine is not the pile of cardboard many make it out to be.

5 year warranty is pretty amazing.

Does that cover ancillaries failure (oil/water pump) and subsequent engine destruction?

He was already upset by the standard S6 TVR's being quicker than any BMW's, but now our 4.3's/4.5's are now not only ludicrously quick but they ALSO have a more bullet proof engine than the M3's (check the M3 warranty threads) hehe

Any questions feel free to ask

4.0 ltr 96mm bore 92mm stroke
4.3 ltr 96mm bore 100mm "
4.5 ltr 98mm bore 100mm " with bespoke top hat liners to suite

The beauty of the 4.3 option is the crank is the same has 4.5 ltr "SuperSports" package

This is great news. woohoo Makes you sometimes wish your engine would die so you could get one!!! (not really though - but you know what I mean).. I wonder at what bhp output other items like the gearbox / diff /brakes /wheels need to be looked at and changed / upgraded at the same time.
