Gentlemen, I really wouldn't feel too guilty, rather enjoy it while you can. With the nanny state, the likelihood of LPG and fuel cells taking over, congestion and the like, in 10 years time it will be next to impossible to enjoy any kind of sports car anywhere in this country, and we will all be driving identical boxes around, with sensors telling our cars how far to keep in front, and behind the next car in the line, etc. etc. Get your foot down, make a noise, and log it all to tell your grandchildren!!

Personally, I don't need to be teased by another car to give it large on some (rare ) occasions. What I think is peculiar with TVR is that you do it just for the rush, i.e. floor it to 150mph, hold it a couple of second and back-off! All you need to do this is a mile a clear motorway! When you do it you are so concentrated that it is unlikely anything wrong happen - unless you're caught by a camera that is. Big Mercs and the likes can easily cruise around at those speed and feel safe, which is utter bo11ox. At least we are driving cars that lets you know when we are not being sensible sensible boys!

Have done daft things in a previous life at traffic lights – like when somebody has said 'straight on at the lights' and I've gone thru a red set looking at the (very close) next set which were showing green. Those bastards one on the Marylebone Road/A40 leaving Londo – they always get me.

Wakes you (me) up a bit.

That stretch can take 10 minutes or 30 depending on what colour you hit them at.

How many times have you been overtaking a queue of numpties and found that, while there WAS a gap between numpty 3 and 4 which you were aiming for, it's closed up by the time you get there?

You're then left with on the wrong side of the road, a blind corner approaching -- and a decision to make. Either hope there's nothing coming and carry on, force your way into a non-existent gap and trust that one will open up, or brake hard and drop right back feeling like a pillock. You have half a second to decide.

Given that you maybe shouldn't have taken the marginal decision to overtake in the first place, once you're in that position, what's to be done?

Agreed, Manek.

Which means that we're all a fag paper away from being a numpty ourselves - we're all human, and every day we have to make serious judgements concerning our own and other people's safety.

The balance that has to be struck is that EVERY driver on the road must take responsibility for his own actions, and at the same time we should all enjoy our vehicles and the roads...........

Have fun, live and let live.

To add my little story...
A few years ago when I had a 4L chim, I was heading out of London on A1. Ferrari in middle lane waiting at lights, I pulled next to him on inside lane. 60 mph limit. Lights go green, he floors it. I 'make good progress' too. He's now a couple of car lengths ahead and still going for it.

I reach 70 and back off. He's still accelerating, and about 100 yds ahead. Bend coming, he ducks inside a van which is in the middle lane. As he enters corner, I said to mate with me - 'he's losing that...'.

Suddenly his car does an instant 180 spin. Mounts the kerb and slams sideways into a wall, travels backwards along wall until he hits a big lampost. I'd say he was doing about 110 when he span. He missed two school girls by 10 feet.

Bits of Ferrari across 3 lanes. The engine is sticking out of the car at a 45 degree angle. I pull up behind and my friend flags down traffic. Driver was ok, staggered off talking into his mobile phone. Police/Ambulance arrive and he's carted off. The police take a statement from me, and say that as I stayed to help, they wouldn't be taking it any further with me. I doubt he kept his licence over that.

Haven't done that again. I was just shocked at how much energy there was involved in the crash. It all happened in slow-mo, and was like watching a big crash in F1. It was just an explosion of car bits, and he SO nearly killed himself.

I hope if anything like that ever happens to me, I can stagger away, talking on my mobile. Are TVR's as strong as that Ferrari obviously was?

That would be a NO.....

the interesting thing is that all the traffic was blindly comming towards me and if i hadnt got out of the way they would have just driven into me like sheep..
despite the fact they could have easily stopped....

if id stopped they would just have driven into me....

180 degree spin!
I was at a roundabout at lunctime and moving out to exit at a slip road. The guy on the inside was in the wrong lane and let me pull out in front of him.

I hit the gas and the car back end started sliding around and before I knew it I ended up facing 180 degress the wrong way! I guess I hit the gas a little too hard with the front wheels angled. I've only had the Chim for a week...anyone wish to pass on some sensible advanced driving tips?

Well, I was silly today too....... had to take the TMS Cerby to work as I was picking my Tamora up after work. Promised myself I would drive carefully to work and not be goaded..........

Merc CLK 4.3 AMG, slicked back, hair-gelled, Estate agent type looks down his nose as he passes..... ........
last I saw was a grief stricken yuppie cursing his German speed limiter as he watched the firebreathing Cerb disappear in to the horizon...
