Get a life boys. It's only a car. Have you ever lost a close member of your family. Maybe then you'll get a sense of reality!
Tricky why bother with PH? TVR \ Lotus \etc are a passion... doesn't look like you have much!
Zippy - nothing wrong with a BMW - just not as good as a Tiv (yeah I use to own a BMW before the 350i). Although I'd never go back now
PetrolTed - Well done!

Saw this - and your posts in the dead Griff thread - and realised (not being part of academia myself) that it must be school holildays time again.
Ted, can't we have a creche section for this stuff?
As far as QW is concerned, he's entitled to his opinion, and don't forget, that his reputation has been made on 'safe' bets (used Mercs & Lexus) and shrewd dealing and TVRs should never be bought with the head rather than the heart!

Tivhead - here's the info you wanted about the speed traps from the 5th gear web site - the info might not be there now since the prog has finished.....
"But forget the familiar Gatso camera because the biggest threat today is the one you can’t see. It’s called SPECS and it’s the first of a new breed of digital speed cameras. This system doesn’t use film so it’s always on and can catch three cars every second. Two cameras are used to track your average speed over a distance and digital images of offending cars are immediately sent to a police computer. There aren’t many in Britain as yet but here are some sites where you could get SPECS-ed:
A43 Lumbertubs Way, Northampton
Linden and Podsmead, Gloucester (I think this is the A38 through Gloucester - wolosp)
A610 / A52 Ring Road, Nottingham
SPECS has also been installed on the M42 during roadworks, roughly from junctions 6 - 9. They are positioned very discretely on the overhead gantries with a small blue plate behind them.
The system is also being used temporarily at:
M62 J7 - 9 roadworks, Cheshire (July 2001 - Feb 2003)
M6 J6 roadworks, Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham (July 2001 - Autumn 2002)"

Well, I've got both! My 525i, 1989 vintage has done 117000 miles, FSH, not a spot of rust, and ferries me and the kids about in leather seats, carries tons of luggage, and as a general, and cheap workhorse, I cannot fault it! But I love my Tamora, and am allowed to follow that passion by having a sensible, reliable car to do the donkey work. Handles and goes well for a big car, too!!
If it was down to QW, we'd all be driving about in second hand 20 year old sh@gged out Merc's! He's a bit of an Aurthur Daily really isn't he. (has anyone else noticed that when he reviews something a bit nice he bins the leather jacket and puts on a suit?) Throw back 1980's yuppie tosser!
