I was reading the posts about fellow PistonHeaders and 'has anyone seen me in my green Chimaera with pink stripes' and 'who owns that beige Cerbera?' etc. and also the stuff about reg plates and I've decided to get my new private plate printed with 'roadsweeper' on the bottom, where normally you get the dealer name - that way we'll know if we see anyone! I didn't fancy having a massive Kenwood-like 'PistonHeads' sticker (no insult Ted!) in my back window so this seems like an effective, but subtle compromise, as we'll all know where to look. (Of course, for those who have chosen a rude username it could be a problem! )

Anybody else up for this? (I don't want to be a loner or anything! )

roadsweeper.

I was thinking about this myself the other day and was going to make one up... just something like:
Pistonheader - M@H
or whatever our collective name is

Hey d_drinks, what's wrong with beige Cerberas?! I've just paid £40k for one.

Or maybe not.

I think I'll just stick to 'roadsweeper' rather than 'PH - roadsweeper' as I reckon PHers will recognise it because they know where to look and might recognise the username. Of course, I also use it elsewhere on the Internet so there's also the risk of me receiving a good shoeing from someone I've insulted on the net!

That reminds me of a question I have.. is having a Kenwood sticker in your back window still considered 'a bit MaxyP' if your name is Ken Wood ???

Hmmn, I could do this, but I could also change my username to the same as my number plate, which is my surname, or it will be once I get round to putting it on the car.

Hmmnnn...

Putting something on your number plate is a great idea.
I would also like to know who it is that I spot from time to time.

But... Unless you are parked, going 2 mph or can see better than superman, how will you be able to tell if there was anything on the number plate?

How about a Discussion area just for SPOTTING. Then you could find out if you were actually seen by anyone.

CarZee: I just feel sorry for my mate 'Max Power'.

Matt: Good luck to you if you can get your surname on a plate, but I still think it would be cool to have 'plotloss' in small letters underneath!

d_drinks: Fair point well made.

anonomouse: I think we can get away with small lettering - it would still be useful for spotting cars in traffic, or when parked, or even when you're just tailgating a fellow PHer (not advisable when they might now who you are!) anything bigger might spoil the look of the car. (I'm also thinking of users like 'kinky' who might not be too keen on having 'kinky' written in 12" high skin-tight black rubber lettering on their car. )

purple_throbber: Actually I missed it, more's the pity, what was on it that made you say that?

The thought of a Tiv with 'Purple Throbber' written on the reg plate really cheered me up!

homer changed his name to max power because there was a tv character called homer simpson he didn't like. cheered me up thinking about the plate too. need it today, as you'll see in the cerbera section

That would be quite cool if your reg plate was 'UR 02 SLO' as I believe someone on here has got!?

I think the new number plate legislation outlaws having your own text on the bottom, however you may get away with it

Sorry to be boring.
