I used to have a woodwork teacher who was aptly named "Mr Maple"

I remember a few years ago New Scientist magazine did a long running write-in on such things. They invented a suitably scientific sounding phrase for it too, iirc.

I was in the supermarket the other day, and there was an announcement for a "Miss Cherry Orchard". Not sure of it's was someone having a laugh or not. Made me smile though, and look odd coz not many other people heard it.

Petrolhead father of a friend invented a middle name while filling in the new-child paperwork.

First name 'Michelle', middle name 'Ann'.

She finds it quite amusing, but I gather her mother was not amused at the time.

I had a teacher at junior school called Mrs Whore (I guess she taught 7-11 year olds because they just didn't get the joke.

I also have a friend called Clair who got married last year and kept her maiden name, at the time I just thought she was being a modern new age independant women type but then found out her husbands surname was Bear, I could then see why she said bollocks am I taking your name.

I didn't fancy having a massive Kenwood-like 'PistonHeads' sticker (no insult Ted!)
That reminds me of a question I have.. is having a Kenwood sticker in your back window still considered 'a bit MaxyP' if your name is Ken Wood ???

OR Al Pine,
Probably be a bit more 'Beige Ford Cortina' or 'Sky Blue Vauxhall Chevette' than MaxyP.

P.S: I Have a programming lecturer called
'Rich Picking'.

There was an american at a previous employer of mine called Randy Male.

I don't think that the word has the same connotations over there, or else his parents had a wicked sense of humour.
