I have just exchanged my very personal chim 400 for a Cerb 4.2 (picking it up on Wednesday)....

I just wanted to know before any thing comes out and bites me in the wallet...

How reliable is a Cerb for everyday use ???

I bought my Chim (Bless Her), last feb with 19k on clock....Its just clocked 38k today...without a single breakdown/overheating etc...

So any Cerb drivers out there that use theirs as an everyday car, I need your advise...

Its a 4.2 on a P plate..

Cheers"!!!!

Bling, hats off to you mate. Well done in getting a Cerb, but shouldn't you have asked this before you traded the Chim in? Or was it a 'spur of the moment' decision?

The answer is: depends on the actual car I think – did you get a warranty?

Others (Cerb owners, I'm not) will come on and reveal more.

Well done anyway! Sure you won't regret it.

Ok then, try this:

I have a Starmist Blue/Magnolia 2001 Chim. Its on a deal where I get 3 years free warranty and 3 years free servicing (except worn parts) from the dealer I bought it from.

Now, there is a rather lovely Rosso Red Cerb for sale for £25K on Pistonheads that belongs, I think, to Neal (lovemytvr)

If I was to sell mine and buy the Cerb the Mrs would probably throttle me, but I am a petrolhead first and a couple consellor second so what do you reckon?

I am only 10% convinced at the moment, but anything could sway me!

Matt.

Matt, when I bought my Chim, I called in to meet Neal by Heathrow and the site of this Rosso Cerb coming down the road was the most ******* sexy bastard thing I ever saw. It is gorgeous, the interior is something else (pic on the classis everyone).

I do love my Chim to bits don't get me wrong but if I had the money and wife would look the other way for 24 hours, I'd have it woithout hesitation. If I was you, I'd get down there and have a look – Neil is a great bloke – I'd buy it if I had the extra dosh (which I know you do, of course , all these hard luck sob stories you keep spinning us )

Get it bought!! Genuine mileage too – formerly an Adrian Blyth car. Added bonus, it's a 4.5 too.

Mike

It is a lovely colour combination thats for sure and I have no doubt about the mileage and the way its been looked after etc.

I was thinking about getting this bargain before a dealer snaps it up and puts it on his forecourt for £32K!

Wheres the smiley for rock and a hard place!

And that will happen ... think you should break the news of your impending purchase to her over a candlelit supper

[couple consellor mode on]
Involve your beloved in the process Matt - take her for one of those runs in the country that she loves so much and stop by Neal's place. Let her sample the interior and she'll be smitten!
[couple consellor mode off]

And as for you - I'll give it 500 yards of driving the Cerbera before you're 110% sure.

I think it already has happened Mike!

Just went to check it out one last time, before breaking the news to 'er indoors and some bugger has snapped it up!

Not suprised mind, it was cheap even at the right price of £27K (not £25K d'oh!).

Hope whoever has bought it enjoys it though!

I have seen Neal Cerbie a couple of times. The first when I collected my own Chimaera from Adrian Blyth A very fine example. I didn't know it was up for sale... mind you running a Chimaera and a Cerbie must be hard on the wallet.

jeremy,

I was considering breaking the news to her yesterday as she was peering in through the window of yours, I was just waiting for her to say, what a lovely car (which she duly did) and I was going to break it to her. Somehow she managed to distract me directly after though, d'oh!

I have to say though, your Cerb does look absolutely marvellous in the flesh.

Another way of broaching the subject might be to point out the two seats for little people in the back....Of course this can lead to other wallet-challenging events .

On second thoughts I'm not sure I like to way I see the negotiation going: YOU can have the Cerbera if WE can have .....
