The little things you like about your TVR

that weird combination mechanical/electrical sound when I push the door opener button, I can hear it in my head now, its like a pavlovian reaction with an increased heart rate...
followed by the engine start-up procedure of ensuring I hear the buzz of fuel pump priming, flick of the key and the odd chugging first few beats when its cold before its makes a steady rumble to wake the neighbours...

I took my Chim into the office a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I parked up and made my way to my desk. When I got there about 15 people were looking out of the window and asking me all about it, I didn't get any work done for a couple of hours. It was then insisted that I take it out for a spin at lunch and encouraged to make as much noise as possible, I happily obliged.
On my way back I drove past the smoking shelter where I was once again bullied into giving it some revs... I forgot that the smoking shelter is outside the boardroom. Whoops! A couple of our directors peered out the window and I thought I was going to get a right boll*cking, nope, they put their thumbs up and gestured to keep revving it!
We have a few 911's, Elise's, Cayman's etc in the car park, but no one has ever got the reaction I have. All from a 17 year old, far from mint, £7k motor. I really can't think of another car for the same price that would get the same reaction, come to think of it I can't think of that many at 10 times the price.
Awesome.

A few from me after a month or so of Cerbera ownership:
- The smell. Its a mixture of leather, damp carpet, petrol and glue and it is truly intoxicating. You can actually smell it as you walk up to the car, a few people other than myself have noticed that too. It gets engrained into your clothes so you get whiffs of it for hours after you've been for a drive.
- The boot curvature. Mentioned a couple of times on this thread, but its one of my favourite aspects of the Cerbera design, particularly the little lip that it has.
- The door buttons - The way that the door pops when you press the internal or external buttons is just fantastic.
- The heater controls. Brilliant in terms of design, functionality and just the feel of them. That and knowing that TVR made them, rather than robbing them from the parts bin of another manufacturer.

The fact it's a handbuilt British sportscar and it's mine...something i've aspired to since i was a kid and i've achieved it!
I love the slashes on the bonnet and how the paint along the edges has been discoloured by the heat.
I love the built up to it starting...the "calm before the storm" of the fuel pump priming and then the explosive start up of the V8!
I love the interior, the simple and logical layout of proper instruments, no computerised rubbish.
I love the fact the petrol cap is in the boot...which is opened by a button under the dash because an exterior button would ruin the lines of the car.
I love the weight of everthing; the heavy clutch, the heavy steering and the knowledge that the throttle is a piece of cable directly connected to the thundering V8!
Its my TVR and I bloody LOVE it!!!!!

Told this story on here before but it still makes me smile.
Was at Christopher Neils in Cheshire buying som, ething for my Wedge and found myself watching this Guy with his partner who were being shown around the Chimaera he had just bought. Roof off procedure etc.
Then the Salesman started it up and the guy exploded with excitement and ran off up the car park. The TVR sound he new was coming but he still couldnt keep control.
His girl friend just laughed and had this "yes, all men are just little boys insude" look on her face.
Its a strange feeling when you feel so happy for a complete stranger.
TVR's are amazing.

Put a new set of dampers & springs on the Tuscan yesterday. Set rough ride heights but wanted to do some road work before re-setting.
Did a 5-10 mile run locally, and all the lads coming out of school were stopping, nudging their mates and pointing as I drove past. Had to get a few pops & bangs on the overrun...Always the kid!!

Cerbera - Driving through Buckingham on the way to Donnington a couple of weeks ago, ten(?) year old kid points at the car and shouts "Nice TVR mate". Now that's brand recognition for you.
Wow, that's impressive! It always surprises me that they even know what it is, and of course they are much more rare now than 'way back then'.
I said recently that "I knew my car would become a classic when I bought it.", and sometimes I think they might truly become 'iconic' if they haven't already.

The smell......
Does that make me a bit mental?!
I just love the glue/fibreglass smell that all the critics moaned about. It just helps to remind me that this is a handbuilt car, makes me feel even better that its a Brit one too
Not at all. I love the smell of mine, but it smells more of leather than glue! I also love the oily, faint petrol, engine smell you get when she's been stood in the garage for a few days. Always an occasion with a tiv.Does that make me a bit mental?!

Driving into the center of Tolouse trying to find my hotel on a busy Saturday morning and heard "Oh la la a TVR" in obviously a very heavy French accent. Made me smile.
Also same morning at some lights still looking for my hotel and the police blocked the junction to let about 500 motor cyclist through who were protesting something and making a lot of very nice screaming jap bike noise. Couldnt held mysel and through them a bit of Speed6 back.
The people standing waiting to cross turned round and several, smiled and put their thumbs up.
