I often find myself surrounded by unusual or beautiful scenery in the TVR...

Like Hartside Cafe...?

  • the personality, you start it up, it's like waking your wife after she's been out all night, you know she's awake, but she's grouchy and doesn't sound too happy, but soon she's awake, and she still has some alcohol in her blood stream, which makes her all moist, if you play with her gently for a while, all hell lets loose.
  • the looks, take the Cerbera, those lines, remind me of this

  • buttons, again, like a woman, all the important buttons are in odd places, I mean simply to open the door it's like being a <ahem> erm...16 year old boy, slipping your finger under and up - you can see what I mean right?
starting and stopping the car, like two nipples, the red one, slightly sore does all the work, well...you don't have time to steer a ship and turn it on with both hands do you?

it's an awesome car, just wish I could use it more often, perhaps I should move house so I live further away from work, then i'd have an excuse!

The dropping of young boys' jaws when I start up. I was that young boy once (my wife says I still am)!

Also, being asked to blipp the throttle by passing strangers - does this happen with any other car? Maybe an AC Cobra??

Also, not being able to bear to put the car away after a drive - perhaps just one more time round the 20 mile block.......

Starting up a Cerb is very similar to this:

Part of the excitement of owning a TVR is never 'really' knowing if it's going to start! Having said that I've never had a problem in the past four years, but the nagging doubts persist.

Not Monaco indeed....better...one of the best roads bar none! Some of the road surfaces have deteriorated recently but its a great drive!....and theres a nice cup coffee waiting at the highest cafe in england half way along!

http://www.visitcumbria.com/pen/hartside.htm

When we are at national TVRCC events we mention this road and only locals seem to know it so we recommend visiting the NE if only to go ob this road!

I'm on my 3rd TVR and they all have 'little things' that make you smile. My chim was my first TVR so everything about it made me smile! Then came my Cerb...man, that AJP V8! De-catted with sports pipes...I will always remember the spine tingling howl and the popping and banging on the way down the rev's. My current Griff 500 is more like the Chim in some respects - just a great sports car!

IMHO one of the best things about owning a TVR is the people you meet - fellow owners, enthusiasts, TVRCC members, etc...?

The door release knob in the transmission tunnel of my Chimaera (though Mrs jsr always opens my door when she tries to get out!)

That 30mph in 2nd gear produces lovely pops and bangs or 4/5th gear produces lovely burbles. Even town driving is fun!

The way the car actually feels like it is part of me.

The way all my friends love my car, but would never want to own one - i pity them.

The fact that with a baby due in less than 4 weeks, the only family car that i could possibly sell my Chimaera for is a Cerbera!

This thread has re-ignited my utter determination to own one of these wonderful machines one day.

Keep it up chaps!

Four pages ago I read a post which highlighted the feel of the edge of the boot on the Chim (not Chimp BTW!). Now it's mentioned I totally go along with that sentiment. It does have a lovely scale and feel to it.

My other 'like' is the fact that the speedo dial is purposely dimmer than the rev counter. I love that!

Many others have already been listed but my final one is the 'need' to blip the throttle when in a multi storey car park or mini tunnel waiting for the lights to change at the other end (there are two at the Godstone turnoff of the M25 and I use them a lot!). I haven't quite got to the point where I go round again just for the halibut, but it wont be long I'll warrant!

happy tivving!

Pretty much all of the pre mentioned ones..............
Plus...............
The slight rocking of the car as the engine ticks over then watching the front of the car sway as you rev the engine at standstill as if the engine is bursting to go.
Watching kids rushing for their phones as you go by to take a photo or video clip.

The Griff design, the smell of full leather trim, the snug position between the door and gearbox tunnel, the height of the shift, the dash (Leven s/s chequerplate with all the alloy bits now), the fuel pump prime, the fire up burst, the tickover note, the V8 burble when you pull away, the T5 box (so crisp), the acceleration, the way people are generous in their compliments about her, the fact that in more then ten years of owning TVR’s they’ve been completely reliable and finally driving in the night with the targa off. It's a fabulous car. cloud9

Oh god, they have all been mentioned but what a great thread, to sit here just thinking about it all....:

The wonderful people, friends I have made and things I have done that would never have happened without the car.
The door opening, love that.
The noise and speed when nailing it.
The pops and bangs on lift off
The perfect pedals for heel/toe action
The fact that you need to concentrate, to drive it, be part of it even if ultimately there may be faster ways to travel/corner/accelerate. I did it not a computer.
The seats
The paint (sometimes!)
The design
The dash!
The fact I can get my hand in to clean the wheels!
The performance
The sight of 10's of other TiV's on hoons around the country
The little 'they all do that sir' problems

Geez, just love it, it aint going anywhere!

This is such a great thread. Everything mentioned above & more are exactly the reason I have lusted after a TVR, ANY TVR, for a long long time. And tomorrow that wait ends, for I pick up my very own Chimaera 450. Tonight I will once more be a little boy on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa!!!!!
