Digga,

Yup! Several years ago I used to work on the GP circus, got the opportunity to drive my road car round the GP circuit the morning of the race when the road was closed, not driving at 10 tenths but maybe nine! the whole circuit is the best place to drive a car anywhere ever!
Another scarry corner was Russell at Snetterton before they ruined it

Haven't been to Spa but have been through Russell in the middle of the night when you could get onto the circuit at Snetterton in the weee small hours when it was closed. Not really legal or a track day but great fun !!

Russell was a scary corner. It also accounted for 75% of the deaths at Snetterton and it was rightly changed.

Cheers

1=Fordwater at Goodwood, a real "bottle" corner.

Definitely with you on that one!
What's the fastest people have been through it just out of interest? I've managed 120MPH but i'd be interested to hear what Peter Humphries goes through at 'cos it's bound to be faster!
(For those who can't remember the corner, the first R/H corner after the pits is Madgwick, 2nd R/H is Kink, 3rd R/H is Fordwater, 4th L/H is StMarys, 5th R/H is Lavant, 6th R/H is Woodcote, 7th & 8th is Chicane).

Jas.

You've missed out No-Name!

I always have trouble with Fordwater as it's completely flat in the dry unless I get Madgwick Just right. Typically 130-135 indicated depending on temps, with about a quarter turn of opposite lock and a change of underwear when I get back to the pits. My biggest moment at Goodwood was when I went into there at 135 ish on a damp day. Huge tank slapper on the way out, the track's about six lanes wide there and I used all that and more.

Re: Goodwood.
Hang on a mo, have I got the wrong corner here?
Fordwater is the right hander just before the left hander called StMarys isn't it?

Yep, it's the one after Madgwick (according to the map on my 1992 TVRCC souvenir mug from our track event of that year)

Damn, David - now you tell me!

No wonder I always spun off there as the map is partially obscured by that damn green Griffith

Eau-Rouge at Spa is AWESOME, raced there last year in Radical championship and are off again to race there again on 9th May !! can"t bloody wait. The fast left hander before the bus stop (Monte Blanche) is also very daunting, but managed to take it flat in 6th last year after a few laps trying but not succeeding if you know what I mean.

Hocheichen to Flugplatz on the old Nordschleife circuit. With balls you can get airborn going up the hill over the top then have to brake (poss change down depending on size of balls) for a right hander. Pay your marks....oops sorry Euros and you too can play at being Jackie Stewart.
