Basically I want a TVR, I was excited enough at the prospect of acquiring a wedge, Anything above a 280i, My 306 GTi-6 puts them to shame (No offence to 280 owners). Recently I have noticed that the price on the early chimeras and griffs are getting more accessible.

After reading through many of the posts here I have come to the conclusion that most, if not all, of you are either very wealthy and/or mechanically competent enough to repair TVRs 'on the cheap'.

What sort of disposible budget does someone of limited (but not incompetent) mechanical knowledge and a very stretched wallet, need to own one and which ones tend to be the most reliable?

I'm quite tempted by a late 400se!

Many thanks

I should probably just read Andy's post :-P

Ditto above, 450 or SEAC if you can stretch to it. Get an independant check including the engine if you decide on one. 400's have that sound that tickles the grin gland more than the rest I think. Notice you are near Cardiff, club meeting tonight at Caerleon. See a few Wedges there including mine.

Nice Car JMorgan.

What time is the meeting where in Caerleon and what club .

Well the roads are pretty crap but the local car thieves can just about manage to nick a Y reg mini with the keys in the ignition so hopefully an imobillised TVR should just get away with a few (your car is better than mine) scratches down the side .

I think the difference is that probably anyone using a website like this is an "enthusiast" therefore normally willing to have a go.. I'm not wealthy, and not a great mechanic.. but hey.. how much damage can you do to a ford engine

Cheers,
Matt.
PS whats wrong with buying an S !!

Couldn't make yesterday, had to follow orders and do more painting on the house .

I know that pub well, I used to live in Caerleon. Hopefully I can make it next time.
