I've had 2 stepper motors go faulty in the past 6 months, my dealers says this is unusual, i'm not so sure, I think i've seen other threads on this subject but can't find anything under a search, can anyone throw some light on the subject?

Stepper motor operation seems to be a common cause of problems but as far as I'm aware the problem is usually dirt, or wiring or other (ECU, sensor) faults rather than a problem in the motor itself. It may be that the act of changing the motor is disturbing something and hiding the problem for a while. Hope you are keeping the old 'broken' ones!

Cheers, but alas no, they need them to send back to factory apparently, they did replace it free in the end, can't complain at that I guess, I'll see how long it lasts this time and investigate further if it fails again, thanks again.

Back to the factory? My cynical self hopes that this is all being done for free under warranty. And even if it is, I can't help but think there is an underlying cause to your problem, and the stepper motor replacement is a temporary fix.
