I am looking to buy a Chimaera very soon, I favour buying privately, purely down to the high cost of going to a dealer. Before I start looking, is there anyone in the Tonbridge/Maidstone/Canterbury areas of Kent that would be kind enough to let me have a quick guided tour of the mechanicals of their pride 7 joy, just so I have more of an idea of what to look for?

I have been advised to get a professional inspection done on any private car that I am considering purchasing, given that the AA/RAC probably don't see that many TVRs, can anyone recommend a specialist who offers this service.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Andy

Rob Ingleby (01280 706332). I used Rob and there have been a few others who have replied on this site who have used him.

I live just outside Tonbridge and have a copy of the Steve Heath Chimaera/Griff book you can borrow if you're interested.

I don't have a Chim to show you around though (bought a Cerb instead).

Good luck in your search.

Cheers for the offer Phockit, bought the book last week though! How do you rate Waldenway for servicing?

Ted, why was it binned?

It was the total truth, and I didn't exactly use the full name. It was also sound advise so that the same thing doesn't happen to someone else.

Sorry if you found it offensive.

I didn't see the post, but, if it bashes a dealer/independant or anybody else Ted will bin it.....

I don't think it matters if the full name is used or not, if it implies it, he don't like it!!

HTH!

Ted, quick point, Maybe when you bin a post, you should right a little bit explaining why it was binned! Cos otherwise, it's like being told you haven't got a job and not being told the reasons!!!!

How many times do I have to explain this? You slag off a dealer. They don't know you've posted here so don't have the opportunity to reply. Yes, you may well be right but we can't let these forums become an opportunity for people with grudges to bad-mouth businesses. If you have something to say in response to the query raised then you can mail the person direct.

As for 'I didn't use their full name' - do you really think that makes any difference?

It's simple and I've said it numerous times: No naming and shaming. If you can't abide by that simple request then your post will be binned.

Bugger this, I'm off to the pub

Have a good weekend all...

Phockit, where do you live ???

I live in Battle, but until 2 months ago worked in Tonbridge, driving the Cerbie in 2-5 days a week..

I think I remember seeing a silver cerbie a while back on the A228, with the driver smiling like a cheshire cat... Probably you ? (I was in a Golf at the time, so no point waving)...

The 'binned for potentially libelous content' would have done Ted.

Appologies, and it won't happen again.

A few miles east of Tonbridge (sorry to be vague but don't want to advertise location to any toe-rags that may be lurking). Only got the car at the end of March so might not have been me. I know there is another silver Cerb in the Sevenoaks area, mind.

For some reason I very rarely see other Cerbs on the road, Tuscans on the other hand seem to be two a penny (which annoys a mate at work who's just ordered his in the default blue, Jools).
