price increase

I miss the rat burgers
I also winced at the price yesterday, i drive a decentishly expensive car (although nothing compared to some of the metal that turns up) and would hope to secure one of the lower priced slots but still wincing at £500.
As Craig has said its a business, he needs to make it viable and good luck to him.

As with any private business owner, Craig can charge what he sees fit in terms of supply and demand. Clearly the demand is there from people willing to pay £800 for a day in their hypercar. If the price increase alienates people and ruins VMax's reputation then that's their risk.
Rather than whinge about it, how about going to an alternative one? The runway that Terminal Velocity use is supposed to be smoother although they don't seem to do many events... Or even better, set up your own VMax event. I can't imagine the barriers to entry are that great.

just out of curiosity is there another event like this run in the country?
The VXR Team run an Standing Mile event called Thunder Road for Vx drivers. Probably not very helpful if you do not drive a VX though. I got beaten by an Astra last year

The Vmax of today is not the same as that of a decade ago.
If anyone thinks they can do a cheaper job, to a decent standard, then good luck to them.

I think that sums it up in a nutshell.Podie, I'm sure I recognise your username as we were both there 10 years ago when it was a rat burger and emptying your leg behind a tree.
That was in the days where GregE240 or Rude Girl did a Vmax breakfast!
my view, as someone who attended 4 or 5 vMAX's is Craig can charge what we wants and we can't complain.
Its his event, his business. He is not silly, the very opposite in fact.
For me personally, it completely and utterly rules me out of going again, but to be honest, I have been put off by the changes that have happened ... it is not the sort of event it used to be ....people who are not proper petrol heads turn up, they are the rich kids, who want to show off, who want to be on YouTube, who want to tell their mates or their bird that they drove their Gold wrapped 458 at 180mph (skillz innit bruv)
the old vMAX, pissin in the bushes and all, was just a bunch of proper petrol heads, millionaires and paupers alike, having a good old blast.
Im not bitter, angry or annoyed at Craig - good luck to him ... but I won't be going, and will happily spend £795 at the Nurburgring / Spa / Silverstone / Scottish Highlands / Swiss Alps etc etc rather than a stone chip inducing runway in Leicester

i only went once a few years back when it was 295, i took my gt500 and almost cracked the 200. for me i am only interested in the driving none of the other stuff, perhaps Craig could offer a price for just doing the driving and charge a vip rate for those that want all the other special stuff. just a thought...

Up until a few years ago, the MLR forum used to run a 30-130 and top speed event at RAF Marham, (2.8km vs Bruntingthorpe 3km)
The quickest cars in the country used to attend these events, going from 30-130 in 4-5secs and onto over 200. Proper timing gear, leaderboards, security and facilities (RAF base) - This was run over 2 days, a Saturday and a Sunday, Saturday being Japanese only (Evo/Impreza/GTR) Sunday being everything. Cost for the day was under £100 and although there weren't Bugatti Veyrons on display, there were the quickest accelerating cars in the country, cars that would make a Veyron or a P1 look slow. Working class guys too, no Cecil's or Cyril's anywhere
More recently, yes, there is an event that has just started called Terminal Velocity (Search for the page on facebook) Its based at RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk and is a 2.2 mile runway (longer than Bruntingthorpe but I think its restricted to 1.8 miles) - The cost is between £99 and £150 dependent on time of booking. You will find details of 2016 events on their facebook page.
Sounds awesome Leo, hanging out with Scooby owners for the weekend, i think i'd rather go to Brunters. The quickest cars in the country used to attend these events, going from 30-130 in 4-5secs and onto over 200. I do agree however the new list price is definitely a little rich for most & i did like the good old days of pi$$ing in the woods & chancing my gastronomic tract with a rat burger (they were really good though), but as Craig's already said the costs are considerably higher nowadays than they were 10yrs ago & what's laid on is also considerably higher quality so that has to cost.

A snapshot event like Vmax has to import everything on a one off basis, that's expensive.
Yes the markets different so the price is reflective of that fact also.
I'll certainly be back when we have the right cars.

Thunder Road was my baby, ran it for a few years at Woodbridge and even with 50 cars it still ended up cost neutral at best.(wasn't doing it for a profit or as a business) Vauxhall approached me and took it over for the VX marque, but, it's very heavily subsidised now.

Not surprised you had a hand in setting it up, it shows if you look at the earlier years and the cars that ran. Might be looking at running at Terminal Velocity at some point this year if ya fancy coming along for a ride?
