anyone owned a herald?

I'll have a word with my father, Phill. He helped a mate do up quite a few Triumphs back in the day.
But what you want is one of these:

cheers chris - see my post to ben though. I dont want to "get into" classics, I just thought a herald would be nice to cruise around in and cost about a grand for the priviledge.

Alternatively, how about a Sunbeam Tiger
Oh
But 20k probably
£20k? really, I was expecting to be more like £12k.
Lovely cars and sound the balls. However, I am thinking cheap as chips ways to have roof down classic fun. They dont seem to come much cheaper than a herald. £1200 buys a tidy looking 38k miler from new on autotrader.
Some on here, including a Vitesse model. In need of some care & attention.

Mate, just get a Herald or Vitesse saloon for £not-many-hundred and unbolt the roof
Certainly no need to spend a bag of sand on one
loads here including this one

check out the one fourth down - 37k from new and £1200 would probably secure it!

Weld some scafold bars in, it'll be fine
Shnozz,
Sorry mate couldn't be arsed to trawl through and find one with 12 months ticket, but I'm sure they're out there
Well I owned a couple a few years back - my first and second cars were Heralds as it happens. They've only got about 6 moving parts and they are a piece of proverbial to work on. Watch out for rust in the chassis - outriggers obviously plus at the area just behind the diff. You would probably find them very low geared, I would rarely go over 60 mph in mine - my future wife went a lot faster in her 948cc jobbie though! But the floor rotted away in hers. I remember doing a clutch swap in about an hour - really easy because the tunnel comes out and you can squat on the floor to do it.
It would make a good runaround classic IMHO.

apologies mate, wasnt meaning to sound dismissive, just wondered if the £250 example on ebay was indicative of the general "restoration project" heralds at that sort of price range.
Will get in touch if i do go with the idea.

Up to you of course, but given the remit for it's use I would say there is no justification for the maintenance costs of a good one
