Isn't it normally 3.5 SD1 then?
What's a typical V8 transplant? 130hp as in the TR8 doesn't sound like much for a reasonably substantial car.

To put this into perspective, I've already fitted a 5.7 TT ls1 engine into a TR7. The engine's out now and waiting for the engine dyno and mapping.
Boosted.
i have both a tr7v8 and a 350i.
the tr7 is a track car in works colours, the 350i is a road car.
i would personally go for the tr7 as a track car every day of the week as parts are so easy to get and cheap.
tvr parts are not as easy to get, also the tvr although fibreglass is still pretty heavy.
standard brakes on 350i are not vented discs and not very good if worked hard.
the tr7 has holly carbs where the tvr has injection system, the carbs work everytime, where the injection system i find a fit more tempramental.
having said that there both cars that i love, i do think the tvr turns more heads in the street and looks godd from all angles, back end of tr7 is not good on standard car better with wide arches and wide wheels.
the tr7 has 3.5 with hollys, lightened flywheel, quaife diff, whole car is 200 kilos lighter than standard and on a track day is one of the fastest cars there beats road going subarus and evos honest, sounds ace of course.
tvr 350i has one problem it is very low and exhuast scrapes on the labour parties speed bumps.
for that reason alone they should be voted out please please please.
