Hi all,

just curiose as to what it would take to convert rear drums to disks?
also when upgrading front disks to larger calipers/disks does any work need doing to master cylinder or servo etc?

Thanks all

what car?there are many off the shelf kits available for some.
otherwise it's make your own.and it's not something to get involved in unless one has some understanding of the physics involved.overdoing it can make the vehicle unstable/dangerous to drive.

Most popular cars, or other cars using the same axle will have an aftermarket or factory option..
You could use a caliper and disc from another car if it'll fit the rear carrier and make a bracket to hold the caliper, and custom hoses etc..

Front bigger calipers will probably need a smaller diameter master cylinder, to create more pressure if the new caliper has bigger piston volume than the original... and the rear system may need a different volume than the drum original, and don't forget a proportioning valve to set up the rear with discs too due to pressure differences..

Call me picky, but I don't think disks will stop your car...smile

Its not a specific car i was just wondering about the physics/cost/knowledge of things.
Possibly a classic mini as i have easy acsess to one.

Why the lack of faith in disks?

Thanks all

Because it's brake discs you need to stop a car.
