Did the tyre pressure monitor not light up ? confused
Indeed it did. However being slightly daft from time to time I pressed 'reset' on the basis if there really was a problem then it'd trigger the warning again. Trouble is it seems that if you press reset then it resets to read the deflated condition of the tyre as normal and doesn't warn you again. DOH.

I've had a flat tyre with run flats (rear left) and yes, the back end squirmed around in a rather unnerving way. I picked up the puncture on the motorway, and at 70mph in a straight line it wasn't obvious that I had a puncture, and I actually didn't believe the iDrive when it told me that I did.
Yep. We were 70mph+ on the A1 and it wasn't obvious at all from the drive that there was an issue. Like you I didn't believe the warning message.

Thats because the runflat warning system see's a drop in tyre pressure as an indication of a puncture, it does NOT actually know the tyre current pressure nor does it monitor the actual pressure. It works by monitoring the rotational speed of the wheel using the ABS system, and when the tyre pressure drops the rotational speed is minutly altered.

Thus, if you 'reset' the warning, it no longer sees a drop in pressure, and does not re-warn.

The main purpose of a Stinger isn't to stop a car - it's to reduce the speed of the pursuit to make it safer to stop the car.

Runflats wouldn't obviously reduce it's impact but I doubt a completely punctured tyre will put up with high speed cornering for long - ideally it will cause them to understeer into a field the first corner they reach...
